There has been a cold snap over the weekend, with temperatures dipping well below freezing—but there is some light at the end of the wintry tunnel. That’s the message from Yle meteorologist Anne Borgström, the sunnier, spring-like weather is going to return from Wednesday.
Scattered snow showers pass over western Finland from the west on Sunday, leaving cloudy and grey conditions for most of the country on Monday. On Monday more precipitation is expected from the west, falling as rain or sleet in the south with a chance of snow further north.
The best chance of sun on Monday is in western Lapland, with temperatures only one or two degrees above freezing in the south. In the north the mercury is expected to dip as low as six degrees below freezing point.
On Wednesday a high pressure system is expected to strengthen, bringing with it cold—but sunny—conditions.
