Friday daytime hours continue to bring rain to coastal areas, and the southeast of the country, but further inland precipitation is being seen in the form of snow.
This evening, rain in the south is forecast to be gradually replaced by snow showers that will spread across southern and central regions overnight, with heavy snowfall expected in some areas.
There is a possibility that western and central regions will see an accumulation of up to 20 cm of snow on Saturday. The weather in Lapland is forecast to remain mostly dry with the chance of some sunny periods during the day.
The current low pressure area and accompanying snow clouds will shift eastwards on Sunday.
Friday's daytime temperatures in southern and southeastern regions will remain above freezing, but dip during the night. The weekend forecast is for sub-zero temperatures across the north of the country, with readings as low as -15C in sunnier parts of Lapland.
