Clothing manufacturer Nanso will close its tricot factory in the Finnish city of Nokia, near Tampere, during autumn 2016. The company, which employs 200 people in Finland, announced the start of co-determination talks on Tuesday.
The fate of their stocking factory in Tornio, which employs 104 people, remains open. It is one of the last such factories in the Nordics.
"We can cost-effectively buy the same quality services from Estonia that we have been producing in the Nokia factory,” said Nanso CEO Leena Syrjälä.
Nanso, known for its cotton wear, was founded as a dyehouse in 1921 and is one of Finland's largest clothing companies.
