The warmer than average September has turned into a cooler but drier October.

Sunday will be sunny throughout most of the country, and on Monday the mercury will still rise above +10 degrees Celsius.

A low pressure zone is giving way to a high pressure zone over Finland, which means winds will die down and temperatures will drop, especially at night.

In the north, the upcoming week will feature frosty nights, according to Yle meteorologist Toni Hellinen.

"Hats and gloves will be necessary in the morning and at night," says Hellinen.

Raingear won’t be needed, as next week should be dry, according to Hellinen.

September was 1 to 2 degrees warmer throughout Finland than the average temperature in previous years.

Last month's rainfall in most parts of the country was less than the average of previous years, with the exception of central and northern Lapland and southeastern Finland.
