Häme police shoot driver

Police in the southern region of Häme have shot dead a motorist on National Road 4. Officers say the driver was speeding and endangering traffic at the time of the incident, and will give more details about the incident on Monday.

Police in southern Finland say they shot and killed a driver on National Road 4 on Sunday afternoon. They say he had been speeding and had endangered traffic.

The case will now be investigated by the Office of the Prosecutor General in line with current guidelines.  The death brings the number of deaths from police gunfire to six over the past decade.
