Twin-engine passenger plane lands safely with just one engine in Joensuu

Finnish officials say that a short-haul Nordic Regional Airlines - or Norra - plane flying from Helsinki to the eastern city of Joensuu was forced to land with only one working engine on Sunday afternoon. There were no reports of injuries among the 34 people on board.

Due to a technical problem, one of the engines of the ATR 72-500's twin-engine turboprops had failed in flight and was forced to land at Joensuu Airport on Sunday.

Several rescue units arrived to the airport as a precaution but the plane landed safely without incident and were not required. There were reportedly 30 passengers and four crew on the plane.

The Helsinki-Joensuu route is overseen by Finnair but operated by Nordic Regional Airlines, also known as Norra.
