The finding that up to 20 percent of people in Finland get intimate just once in two months or even less frequently, comes from research conducted by the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU).
The study revealed that up to 51 percent of women in Finland and 29 percent of men say they experience a lack of sexual desire.
The most common reasons reported for the lack of sexual appetite are fatigue – reported by 48 percent of respondents – and stress, claimed by 29 percent.
Some 47 percent of women and 53 percent of men participating in the study said that they did not pay any particular attention to their apathy toward sex.
The results are part of a wider study of sexual behaviour in the Nordics, conducted for RFSU by the Swedish research firm GfK Norm.
The survey was conducted during June 2016, and included responses from just over 1,000 respondents between the ages of 30 and 70.
The research results show a decline in libido in other Nordic countries as well.
RFSU is an independent Swedish organisation that supports sexual responsibility and also markets condoms and other sex products.
