According to Yle meteorologist Anne Borgström, Thursday will be uncomfortably cool for many holidaymakers longing for warm summer weather. Daytime highs in southern and central areas will range from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius and showers are also possible.
Further north in Lapland, highs will come in at 5 to 10 degrees and conditions there will also be wet. That may be a bit of an improvement, given that daytime temperatures in Lapland were just shy of zero degrees in the far north.
Borgström noted that conditions will be driest in Kainuu and southwest Finland and sunniest in the Archipelago Sea and the Åland Islands.
However on Friday there’ll be a dramatic change was warmer weather moves in and temperatures rise into the 20s. Vacationers (and others) can expect sunny skies throughout the country, but the sun will really sizzle in the south and southwest.
The summery conditions will bypass eastern Finland for the most part, though, and daytime highs there will be in the low teens.
"Temperatures in the 20s are also in the forecast for Saturday, and it will be a dry and sunny day. Lapland will also warm up by Saturday. However highs will remain around 15 degrees on the eastern border," Borgström noted.
