The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF), General Timo Kivinen, is taking part in a meeting of the Nato Military Committee in Brussels, according to the FDF.
The armed forces commanders of Finland and Sweden — whose alliance memberships are still pending — are joining Nato member states' defence chiefs as invitees on Wednesday and Thursday.
Among other topics, the meeting will cover security challenges facing the alliance and defence capability development.
The ongoing war in Ukraine and related aid situation will also be discussed, the FDF said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
One of Nato's most important entities, the Military Committee is responsible for the alliance's "highest military decision-making and prepares military advice for the North Atlantic Council," according to the FDF.
Royal Netherlands Navy Admiral Rob Bauer, Chair of the Military Committee, is presiding over the meeting, according to Nato.
