Nasima Razmyar said on Tuesday that she will not run in an election to become leader of the Social Democrats, after Sanna Marin resigned as the party's leader in the wake of parliamentary elections.
However the MP and Helsinki Deputy Mayor has not said if she will run to be a deputy leader, according to the SDP newspaper Demokraatti, which broke the news.
Meanwhile the SDP transport minister, Timo Harakka, has not yet made a decision on whether or not to run for the party's leadership post.
"We are following the situation," said Harakka. "There is still time and there is still snow on the ground."
So far only one candidate, Antti Lindtman, has entered the race to succeed Marin. Lindtman is a four-term MP from Vantaa with backing from the trade unions, and he lost a close election to Marin when the previous leader Antti Rinne stepped down in 2019.
