Swedish People's Party members unanimously re-elected Anna-Maja Henriksson as chair at their party congress in Tampere on Sunday. She had no challenger for the post.

In her brief acceptance remarks, Henriksson said the SPP wants to look after the wellbeing of all Finns.

"We do this in Swedish and Finnish," she said.

Henriksson, who's 59, has led the party since 2016 and served as an MP since 2007. She hails from Jakobstad, or Pietarsaari, some 100 km north of Vaasa.

She is the outgoing justice minister in Sanna Marin's (SDP) cabinet, also serving in the same post in a government led by the National Coalition Party (NCP) from 2011 to 2015.

The SPP is one of the parties involved in the ongoing government formation talks, where the middle-of-the-road party has been clashing with the Finns Party on immigration and climate policies.

SPP deputy chairs Silja Borgarsdóttir Sandelin, Henrik Wickström and Sandra Bergqvist will also continue in their roles following Sunday's party conference.
