On Tuesday morning some Nordea customers reported being able to view client accounts belonging to other individuals or companies.

"For a very brief period of time this morning some of our customers may have seen accounts in their mobile or online banking to which they previously had access. The error was quickly fixed," Nordea's communication team told Yle via email.

An Yle reader, for example, said they were able to see the account of a well-known Finnish company to which they don't recollect previously having access. This person's corporate account was also visible via their personal banking.

"I wonder where else my company's account is visible? Through it, one can find out who my customers are," the Yle audience member said.

An Yle journalist also reported suddenly gaining access to their mother's bank account. After a while, this access disappeared.

Nordea said that current information indicated that it has not been possible to transfer money from the accounts that popped into view on Tuesday morning. The bank said it was thoroughly investigating the matter.
