the problem is that todd can't forget a single thing, that people he's known just fleetingly and moments that are long gone still cling to his heart with painfully fragile fish hooks, melancholy nights pulling on string and making his heart throb.

he still knows:

the way pitts would fold his body over his bookbag when they got caught in the rain between lessons, running and swearing while folded in half.

the taste of the tap water at chris' house.

the sound of that one boy in their chemistry class laughing, high-pitched at first and then muffled in the sleeve of his shirt.

the taste of the fresh peaches they picked right off the tree when they stayed at charlie's family's beach house in southern france.

the lisp of their history teacher.

that time he made sandwiches with jeffrey, alone in their kitchen at 2am, both coming home from a party, eating in silence and then just sitting together, only the clock ticking filling the room.

how the fine hairs on neil's knees felt on his tongue.

the old lady he talked to on the train to welton, who said she was visiting her grandchildren for the first time, and who'd brought nothing but a purse and two boxes of cookies.

The guys in the backround are playing ball. Todd is meeting the man that will change the trajectory of his life forever and they are both meeting the boy they will fall in love with and the guys in the backround are just playing ball. Unbelievable.

saying β€œi want him” about the character but not in a romantic or sexual way . i just Require him i need to Obtain him

Just for context, the book he gifted house is worth hundreds of dollars and the note he wrote says "Greg, made me think of you."

i love when a song is an acquired taste. you can listen to something once and go huh. there's something here even if im not quite ready for it yet. and you listen a couple more times. and then bam a couple weeks or months or years later you listen, youve finally worn the song in and it's the most beautiful thing you've ever heard
