This original hand painted linocut shows off one of my favourite flowers, the Tasmanian Waratah. Tasmanian Waratahs grow wild on the slopes of kunanyi/Mt Wellington where I live in Southern Tasmania. They flower in late spring and their intense red colour seems to glow on the bush. This linocut is part of an ongoing series of mountain flowers. I hand carve the lino, and print with oil based printing ink onto Stonehenge paper. 🌹 Waratah painting complete! ♥️ It was a challenge getting the colours to work nicely together. Mixing nice greens from primary colours is bloody hard!! It did push me to use a colour I usually avoid (Pthalo Blue) cause I always end up mixing up gnarly colours haha!
