FUCKING. OKAY?!

BY THE WAY?

THIS IS MY SCORE FOR JUST FOR ONES I REMEMBER THE PLOT OF. I WAS IN THE ROOM FOR OTHERS - BUT I DONT ACTUALLY REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED.

IF I TOOK IT AGAIN FOR ONES WHERE I WAS THERE BUT NOT PAYING ATTENTION? IT WOULD BE HIGHER.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.

LMAO “you were sheltered” I was the opposite of sheltered. These are all children’s movies. My parents were letting me watch rated R movies while other kids my age were working their way through this list. I saw every single Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie that came out in the 90s the minute it hit Blockbuster. I saw the mpreg one in theaters.

genuinely wheezing laughing at this description of dicken’s awful pet with lead poisoning

important thing i forgot to mention: i looked this up bc adam read a thing about how dicken’s pet was an inspiration for poe’s “the raven” and we were like “well thats not true” but now that ive looked it up, i believe it

Yep! Dickens cited Grip as inspiration for the talking raven in his novel Barnaby Rudge, and Poe was one of its earliest critics (literary critic here being a career title, poe quite liked the work), and he spent time in his review discussing how raven could have been utilized to a stronger effect. Some time later, he used that concept in The Raven.

Dickens was distraught at Grip’s passing and had him preserved. He currently resides in the US, in the Free Library of Philadelphia’s rare books archive in Pennsylvania and can be visited with appointment.

@hydrofelicity Good stranger, pray do not hide this gem amongst the tags

Dickens even wrote an account of Grip’s final moments.

On the clock striking twelve he appeared slightly agitated, but soon recovered, walking twice or thrice along the coach-house, stopped to bark, staggered, exclaimed ‘Halloa old girl’ (his favourite expression) and died.

Not pertinent to anything in particular but I do think it’s kinda weird that we keep depicting cavemen in media crawling around on all fours covered in dirt with tangled, matted hair, speaking in broken, cobbled-together toddler language when like.

They were us.

Like literally genetically they were US, just like. A while ago.

Like

Would you trust a TV caveman with a baby? Probably not

A real life caveman though??? I think they’d be at least okay at it

This is actually really important and comes up in Anthropology classes all. The. Time.

As long as homo sapiens have existed, we have had the same emotional and mental capacity as you and I do today. You nailed it. They were US. Even Neaderthals existed alongside and had offspring with Homo Sapiens for many thousands of years.

There’s much evidence that cavemen would have had complex spoken language, culture (learned information passed down), symbolic interpretation, and I think they most certainly would have been able to handle holding a baby. In fact I have my suspicisions that an ancient homo sapiens mother may be a more present, attentive, and knowledgable mom than I could be today.

Do not let media trick you into believing we are the pinnacle of humanity. Unilinial evolution theory (google it quick I beg) is BUNK, GARBAGE, and the root of so much evil.

We’ve been human for a long, long time, and we are not inherently better than all those who came before.

One the most profound experiences of my life was visiting Font de Gaume, which has 12 thousand year old paintings. They use a technique where the horses appeared to run across the wall when seen in flickering firelight. There was a bison the wall staring at us with such attitude, I could practically hear him. I had the most profound feeling of those ancient artists reaching forward to lay their hands on my shoulders. To say, “This was my world.” It was a profoundly moving experience.

Some years later, I went to the Orkney islands where we visited a tiny family run museum of artifacts from the chambered tomb at the other end of the farm. They handed me a pestle once held by some neolithci human. They’d worn groves where the thumb and forefinger would be for better grip.

I cannot believe there’s absolutely no way to watch free shows and movies anymore, there are too many paid streaming platforms and pirating websites have viruses and ads preventing you from watching it uninterrupted((.)) id rather follow the rules and purchase media moving forward because it is too inconvenient. Seriously, free and no ads or viruses with 1080p streaming is DEAD.

Exactly! It’s freaking annoying when I want to watch movies but I would have to subscribe to like 24 different services . Just to watch the shows that I like.

Oh and wouldn’t it be nice for cartoons? Just anything animated. I just wanna stream things without getting conned. Must I be cartoonless forever?

i like using streaming apps but there are waaaay too many and they’re all stealing my data .i wish there was a secure and organized way to have millions of shows and movies available one one app. but alas. we’ve truly gone full circle back to cable + now it spies on you. its a real shame. i dont want to fill my device storage with tons of boring and stupid cash grabs.

i know, it’s so annoying for everything to be paid nowadays, especially movies and tv shows. it would be perfect if i could watch them without getting infected by some virus or some shit. i’m fine with ads, they gotta run themselves somehow, but i want to watch stuff and .live! if they have to use different domains i’m okay with that too, because free media is .top dog either way.

for mobile users, it especially sucks, because you can’t just use websites and you have to not only pay, but you have to download a billion apps just to find what the thing you wanna watch is on. it doesn’t help that the streaming services take up...so much space. so much.
