Otto Kruse
My primary research field is the teaching of academic writing and the study of writing cultures in different institutions, disciplines and countries. Current research projects include comparisons of writing cultures in three Swiss language regions and of in three different countries in Eastern Europe. LIDHUM is a cooperation project with universities from Ukraine, Romania and the Republic of Macedonia to compare writing cultures and set up literacy development programs. In the COST Action "The European Research Network on Learning to Write Effectively" that invoves more than hundred researchers from about 25 countries, I am the working group leader of the section Improving written communication in education and in the workplace (with Montserrat Costelló from Barcelona).
I am teaching writing in several BA and MA programs and give a seminar on contrastive genre research in a translation study program. I am coordinating a continuing education program on Academic Writing that qualifies for the teaching of writing.
