Six Month Sage

Half a year old! Now if only the rest of her would catch up to those cheeks. Here are Sage's 6 month stats.

Height: 25 inches - 25%
Weight: 13.3 pounds - 10%
Head: 16.3 in - 25%ish

All that holiday eating that Mom partook in didn't seem to effect the little muncher. The Doc acted somewhat concerned since she dropped from 25% to 10% in weight, so we have a month to fatten her up. Should I add ice cream, frosting and cookies to her rice cereal? They work for me!

Sage isn't quite ready for the sitting up on her own bit, but she has had a few 15 second stints.

She drools like crazy and her biting is getting worse. Doc says more teeth may pop through and push the snaggles out. Just what I wanted to hear.
She is happy and sweet and loves rice cereal - but green beans and bananas sure make her pucker.

Happy 6 Months, Sagers!

Christmas Joys...

Just a glimpse at what brought smiles this Christmas.

Sage playing Jesus in Nativity.
Emery performing "Up on the housetop" for the family show.Sage performing her trick.
Singing with my sisters. Jazz hands!
Pajama time.
Pajama Time: take 2Seeing that Santa really came!

Sage amazed at her stocking.Having to force Emery to open more presents after she only wanted to play with her Mrs. Pots.
But my greatest joy this Christmas is right here. Hope yours was full of Joy!

3 More Days!!!!

Is it just me or has Christmas crept up extra fast this year? And I am already nervous that it will creep past me too quickly! In the meantime, we got a few visitors this weekend (it's great to be a stop on people's way to their Christmas destination) and fit in a couple more Holiday Festivities.

My bro and his family stopped by on Friday night. We went to the Ethel Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden to look at the Christmas Lights. We all live in the desert and were dying at the 37 degree nighttime weather. Too bad we are all going to UT and the high everyday next week is even lower than that. We are going to freeze!

Then on Sunday we were joined by my oldest sister Lisa and her family at church. It was fun to see them for a little bit. Lisa and my niece, Lauren even came to my YW lesson and it made me wish they were in my ward to always help participate in the lessons.
The girls are all ready for church with Daddy in their new Christmas dresses

Well, shopping is done, wrapping is done, treats were made and delivered, Santa was visited, lights were seen and tree has been destroyed more than once. I would say our Holiday checklist is pretty much complete. Now we just need to pack up and pray that the snow will stop up north so we can make our way up to UT to be with family. Hope you get to finish all that you needed to do before Thursday and can enjoy family and friends and all that this season truly represents.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

White Christmas in Vegas

It's a Christmas Miracle (as long as you weren't planning on flying yesterday). We had some real snow at our house and Emery loved it. True we don't have much for a yard or snow gear but we made do.

When Daddy came home Emery helped him build the tiniest snowman. That should tie us over for the next 30 years when it may snow like this in Las Vegas again.

Holiday Baking Day

Recipe for the best day of Holiday Baking
  • 1 cold, wet day (snow if you can manage, even the wet stuff that doesn't stick but comes every once in awhile to Sunny Las Vegas)
  • 3 pairs of jammies all day long.
  • 10 million pounds of chocolate (and a little helper to lick the beaters)
  • Holiday Music to get you in the mood. Can be substituted with Holiday Movie (Emery's choice was The Grinch)
  • 1 Bumpo Chair for a happy baby
  • 1 taste tester, preferably with a Santa Apron.
  • 5 zillion of plastic bags, wax paper, cookie sheets, and plastic wrap.
  • Finally, you need some friends to give these goodies to before you die of sugar overload.

Party, Trains and Santa

Just trying to pack in more holiday fun this weekend. Last night we went to Brian's firm Christmas Party. He politely informed me on Thursday that it was in fact formal (before that it was just speculation). Shopping with 2 kids for a party dress in one day is a blast. Fortunately, I found something, Brian looked snazzy in his suit, we dropped the kids off and had ourselves a date. It was fun to dress up, spend a night with adults and eat really yummy food in a posh ballroom at the Wynn.
Then we got up this morning to go to the Santa Train in Boulder City. Although the Santa Train was totally sold out (you'd think there was nothing else to do with kids in this area) we got to play with friends, check out the trains and ride a little trolley. Emery was happy as can be.
Then we headed off to Bass Pro Shop to meet Santa. Seriously, why wait in line at the mall when you could walk right up to Santa, see a bunch of huge stuffed deer, elk and bears and make a candy cane reindeer? Brian called it a Christmas miracle. Being our first time at the Bass Pro Shop we were amazed...we had never seen so many people wearing creased jeans even at the rodeo.

All in all it has been a great weekend with holiday fun. Lets see if we can keep the holiday spirit going with Cactus Christmas Lights tonight and a White Elephant gift exchange tomorrow. I love this time of year!!

The difference a year makes

We had our ward Christmas party this past weekend and again we had a special visitor. I have been prepping Emery for this special event - singing "Here Comes Santa Clause" and making her watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and other Christmas shows and telling her about how nice Santa is.

Looks like it worked because we went from this last year...
to Emery running up to be the first one this year.
Can't wait for more visits to Santa this year!

5 Months and going...

Sage was 5 months on Thanksgiving Day! Here are some fun facts about our littlest Sagie Munch:
  • She loves to roll over, especially when I am changing her, but forgot how to get back off her belly.
  • She loves to play with toys now and it is so fun to watch her get excited and grab at things.
  • She worships her big sis' and watches everything she does.
  • She loves to get kisses and giggles when you make her fly.
  • She loves to stand with help but not quite ready to sit by herself.
  • She is a happy happy girl...as long as you are holding her.
Those eyelashes kill me!

Thanksgiving

We just got back from AZ for Thanksgiving and I think my body needed a day to recuperate. With late night baking, early morning shopping, babies off their schedule and bashing teenage parties all around us, we didn't get much sleep. But it was worth it. Here are some highlights.

  • My family is huge but we are in denial that we are so huge and still like to get everyone together - so we hang out at the church.
  • Emery was so excited to go to AZ to see all her cousins, especially Ava. She equates AZ with Ava and even after we arrived she didn't believe we were in AZ until she saw Ava.
  • Meeting my newest niece, Tessa. I never thought I would get to have a baby with Jo, I just love surprises!
  • We liked to take pictures of these two. They are going to be such cute little buddies.
  • Emery loved to hang out with the big girls too. She wanted to swim everyday - where was this enthusiasm in the summer?
  • Thanksgiving dinner - Arizona style. Eating outside, Sage sleeping and Emery hanging out with all the cousins. I just loved having so many helpers that played with my little bug.
  • Family pictures. It was no small feat getting all these people together for a picture. Unfortunately, my child was the one who broke down and the majority of the pictures are of her screaming (all over a tricycle).
  • Going to Twilight with all my sisters (and even a couple brothers-in-law and a few nieces and nephews). Glad I saw it. Expectations were low and movie definitely had its flaws but overall it was entertaining. And Edward didn't bug as much as I thought he would (but Jasper was hilarious. Seriously, bad bad pick on that one).
  • Black Friday shopping with the sisters. We didn't go as crazy this year, only up at 4:45am instead of 3:45am. The best part is breakfast afterwards.
  • Dinner without kids on Friday night. I was lucky enough to be at the "FUN" table. Lets just say there was Tofu flying, Aarin Neville impersonations, and I cried laughing so hard.
  • Mesa Temple Christmas lights. We got there late so we didn't get the full tour but I was so happy we got to go. It is my favorite and it has been way too long.
We had a lot of fun times. But man, I am tired and happy to be home. Can't believe only 3 more weeks and we are off again for Christmas.

For Holwonder

A little song Daddy taught Emery that his sister taught him a long time ago. Thanks, Hol - this is for you!

I can't wait for her to belt out "Big Fat Poo Brain" in nursery or at the grocery store.

Baby Laundry and More

Some have asked "Where did you get that cute blanket?" Well, I am lucky enough to have a sister and friend who makes these awesome, super soft, super cute, minkyblankets. And now you can get one too! They also sell some other great baby items including, burp cloths, booties, bracelets, paci clips, bags and more.

Check them out at:

www.babylaundryandmore.com

For those that live in AZ, they are doing a one time boutique this Tuesday, 11/25, at my mom's house from 12-4. I don't want to put the address on here (hint: she lives right by Poston) but if you are interested let me know.

I won't be in town for this yet but they have great stuff at super affordable prices. May the holiday shopping season begin!

Sense of Style

If you need any fashion advice, Emery is more than willing. The girl has an eye don't you think?

And if you ever need to feel good about yourself, hang out with Emery and she will pet your hair or tell you she loves your earrings or that your pants are beautiful. Man, I love this kid.

Girls Trip

The girls and I just got back from a quick trip up to UT. We went for the baby's funeral but got the extra bonus of being able to play with family for a little bit. Some of the things I learned from my first alone trip with my girls:
  • Driving 6 hours with 2 small children is not so bad as long as you are equipped with a few necessities...like this plus this. And lots of books and one of these and a quick stop here. And if you have the best baby ever and one of these.
  • Getting all the Anderson grandkids together is pretty special.
  • Emery is so lucky to have fun cousins her age.
  • So is Sage - she even likes to share with her cousin, Haven.
  • The boys were loving Sage.
  • Emery is the worst person in the world to share a bed with. I don't think I slept the entire time because Emery was either kicking (I am talking drop kicks in the middle of the night) my face, tickling my nose with her fly-away hair, or falling off the bed and giving me a heart attack (although she didn't seem to be too bothered by it).
  • I have the best sister in the world who is also the best hair stylist! (and the best cook, hostess, friend, babysitter - I owe her big time)
  • Baby funerals are the saddest but the service was very nice and some wonderful words were said and I was glad to be able to go. I just wish it wasn't for that reason.
We survived the trip home and Emery was extra excited to see her Daddy - and so was I (and I am guessing Sage was too).
