The Road Goes Ever On
FAQ - Read Before You Ask

Since my old website is now defunct and I’ve since published much of that material in my books, I have updated my FAQ.

If you’re interested in my written works, please check out my Wordpress or my Amazon Author Page, both linked in the sidebar. If you’d like to know more about Hex Positive, feel free to ask! The show is available on all the major podcast platforms and is part of the Nerd and Tie Podcast Network.

If you’re looking for advice on how to become a witch or tips for helping to build your practice, search my tag “Advice for Beginner Witches.” I use this tag to curate posts with information I think will be useful to novices and those who might be looking for a refresher.

There are things that I will not answer questions about, either for personal or professional reasons. Asks that I receive which are related to the following topics will be summarily deleted.

  • Divination and Reading Results (I do not do readings or interpret them except on occasions when I feel the urge to practice)
  • Interpretation of Signs, Omens, Dreams, or Spell Results (I cannot tell you why a spell turned out the way it did, what your dream meant, or whether this or that is a “sign” or what it might mean; I am not an oracle)
  • Interpretation of Paranormal Activity (I have no way of knowing if your house is haunted and by what or whom without actually being there. And no, I am not interested in dropping by. I am not a paranormal investigator.)
  • Godphones & Deity Readings (Not part of my practice; I can’t answer “Who’s trying to contact me?” or “What are the properties of thus-and-so deity?” and I do not discuss my patrons)
  • Casting Spells For You (Unless I have reached out to you personally to make an offer and you’re paying me for my time, I do not cast spells on behalf of other people)
  • Writing Spells For You (Unless you’re paying me to write it, I do not write spells specifically for other people; all spells that I post or recommend are either my own creation or appreciatively sourced from books and other blogs, and I will credit the authors)
  • Herbal Medicine (I know what works for me, but I am not a licensed herbalist and will always recommend that you consult a medical professional before taking any concoction or cure)
  • Any Religious or Witchy Path Other Than Mine (If you want good info on anything besides Secular Witchcraft or Cottage Witchery, it’s best to ask someone who follows that particular path. And I do not keep lists of these people. You will have to search the tags or use Google.)
  • How to “Tell If Someone’s Been Cursed” (You can’t tell for certain, unless you watch somebody cast the spell. Again, I am not an oracle.)
  • How to “Summon” Anything (I do not deal in summoning, I am not a trained medium, and I will not advise people on how to contact spirits or entities)
  • “How to Become a Witch” (My answer is always the same: practice witchcraft. Read the information in the pages linked above, especially the advice page. That’ll give you a good start.)
  • “How to Be a Witch” (This is something you have to find out for yourself. I have information available in my Advice for Beginner Witches tag, in my books, and on my podcast.)
  • Questions related to situations involving abuse or sexual assault (For personal reasons, I will not answer questions regarding these topics.)
  • Callout Culture (”Did you see what That Person posted!?” No, and I don’t care to, unless it affects me directly.)
  • Otherkin (Due to harassment and abuse in my inbox, I am no longer speaking on this topic. Full stop. Related questions will be deleted.)
  • Consulting & Life Coaching (I am not here to help you with your love life, your education, your career path, or your finances. This is a witchcraft blog, not an advice blog. Questions regarding these topics will be deleted.)

I am doing my very best to answer as many questions as I can and to give good, thoughtful answers to each one, but I don’t get paid to do this, and there are other projects that I need to work on which ARE going to pay, plus the day job which is 40+ hours a week, household upkeep, and having a personal life.

You’ve all been very understanding and I do appreciate it. I’m hoping that will extend to these new guidelines.

Thank you!
