Paris, Texas 1984
I guess if you are going to finally land a lead role after decades of crushing it as a character actor, you can’t do any better than getting one penned specifically for you by Sam Shepard.
This film is just perfect, from Robby Müller’s god-tier cinematography (gorgeously rendered in the new Criterion 4K release) to Nastassja Kinski coming in for one scene at the end to break whatever is left of one’s heart, this is easily my favorite Wim Wender…

Ben-Hur 1959
I had never seen this lauded epic until today and I couldn't be happier that I got to do it on the big screen.
In a word, astonishing.
My jaw rarely left the floor, and whatever held it attached to the rest of my head came completely off during the chariot race, which can only be described as miraculous, made possible by what I can only imagine was the combination of the utmost craftsmanship and sheer and utter madness.
