I used to just love this movie for making me believe that real love was possible and that there wasnt anything else deeper beyond that. Linklaters neo-realism style with hiss adhearence to almost never straying from real-time interactions with the bare minimum of editing also makes the conversations seem very surface level and devoid of any real depth at first.

Not suprisingly, weirdly prescient, especially in very personal ways. Nothing here feels groundbreaking but the fact that everything just feels like it was executed to perfection kinda feels like its own milestone.
The films themes of revolutionary sacrifice couldve suffered from such a conservative filmmaking style, but I can accept that having something like this be more audience friendly than it needs to be is its own revolutionary action.

A by the numbers 30 for 30 doc that is elevated by the charisma of all its players and how it showcases a lesser known story without shying away from discussing the sexism, racism and homophobia at the time and and how this was simultaneously a turning point in womens sports and also how far we still need to go.
In an age where conservative and fundamentalists cry about "saving women's sports" this is neccesary viewing.
