Raven of the Inner Palace begins like average Ancient-China Fantasy, but with time it shifts to solving mysthical problems in episodic Mushishi style.
This show not best but have good re-wachability. They tryed to make a little different visual style - if You see some screenshots - You wont mess it with another modern animations that looks same. Also here is some drama & kinda warm, heartwarming tragedy. All storytelling feels like in very old anime from times of Vampire Princess Miyu.
Yes - it is other than most people will expect from modern mainstream anime with somewhat restricted budget (especially on "godess" visuals). But being different from others contemporary shows - probably good.

I'll give it a 7/10 but just barely, I mean the main story is good (probably), but there isn't enough of it told in this season, most of the time was spent introducing all the characters and solving not very meaningful/relevant ghost detective stories, with hints of the real story sprinkled in, that too mostly at the end.
I loved the feel of it though, it's vibe, the character designs and art was also good and the characters themselves too, although too much development was not made. But that stupid intro spiel after the OP was really annoying after a while and I couldn't skip it.
I was far more interested in the interactions, specially the romance and in her story ... maybe in the next season... still I recommend it, I mean other than that intro line there was nothing bothering in it.

Story is similar to what you find in Mushishi where there are ghosts or other unnatural phenomenon, then our MC and her romantic interest the king find ways to solve it. The stories themselves are not very thought provoking or heartfelt stories, just average, so its not as much fun as Mushishi.
The girls in the anime are very beautiful, this is probably what kept me watching.
