    When everyone discovered that Midoriya Izuku was quirkless, everything changed. His father left him and people bullied him at school for being quirkless. Even his mother had a change of attitude towards him. Izuku felt so useless and unwanted.

    That was his life, until an incident involving Izuku and his mother when he was 5 led to them discovering that Izuku had a quirk all along. The HPSC caught wind of Izuku’s new discovered quirk and took him in.

    The Hero Public Safety Commission is an organization that manages the heroes and the regular people of society. They exist to protect civilians and stop people from abusing their quirks to hurt others.

    At least it was supposed to be.

    They trained Izuku into the assassin known as Specter, an obedient puppet for the one pulling the strings in this hero society. He is tasked to take out anyone who dare tries to uncover the truth of the HPSC’s morally questionable practices.

    Little did the HPSC know that Izuku secretly made a deal with All for One to get his freedom back.

    During a battle, Midoriya gets hit by a villain whose quirk detaches his soul from his body. Stuck in a ghost-like state, the boy enters a race against time in order to save himself from permanently dying. Much to his luck - or lack of it -, the only person who can see and talk to him in this state is no one other than Kacchan.

    The ancient necropolis staggered the skyline, each spire dusted with silver, erupting into being among the blue-dark desert tedium of endless shifting slopes, blasted grit, and arid wind.

    Katsuki stumbled as the sight clove into him. Pausing on the crown of a dune, a night whisper ruffled his hair and cooled his burning lungs. Time and sand have scoured clean any trace of rot, leaving only the hollow scent of sun-bleached ivory.

    He leaped across the crests of the last hundred dunes, verging on collapse. The shadow of the city fell over him, thrown by a perfect moon. It has guided him south with its waxing, urged him onward onward, for miles and days and beyond the reach of a hunt.

    Skin vanished, limbs shortened, a heart withered. Unable to hold shape as the last of his strength fled him in a final burst, he rolled diminished down the last dune. But it didn't matter. His feet were two instead of four. But it didn't fucking matter. He stood, limped before the gates, and slammed his palm on the wheel of challenge.

    Katsuki no pudo hacer nada más que pestañear ante ellos por unos momentos que se sintieron como una eternidad, con sus ojos bailando entre sus padres en obvia confusión, incredulidad, y, más que nada, indignación.

    “¿De qué carajo hablan? ¡El maldito nerd está a su lado!”».

    Durante una batalla, Midoriya es golpeado por un villano cuyo quirk separa su alma de su cuerpo. Atrapado en un estado fantasmal, el chico entra en una carrera contrarreloj con el fin de salvarse a sí mismo de morir permanentemente. Para su suerte –o falta de ella–, la única persona que puede verlo y hablar con él en ese estado no es otra más que Kacchan. Alternativamente: Deku y Kacchan tienen sus almas entrelazadas.

    “Jesus Christ—” An exacerbated Denki huffed from the sidelines.
    “Get your shithead down here and talk to us. Don’t got all night. Gettin’ my ass all over your stupid fucking pentagram. Wanna fight me for that or what?” Taunting during investigations was nothing out of the ordinary for Katsuki. As per usual, Denki stared at him like he’d grown two heads for having the balls to speak to the empty air in such a tone.
    Hanta helpfully rephrased the taunt to work with their flashlight set-up, “If you want to fight our boy Bakubro here, turn the light off.”  Nothing. The flashlight stayed dimly lit.
    “This demon’s a fuckin’ pussy,” Katsuki grumbled. The flashlight flickered off.

    Bakubro and the squad have an online ghost hunting show. Katsuki's usual antagonizing of the supernatural he doesn't even believe in turns a notoriously friendly demon into a bit of a menace as he sleeps.
    He certainly doesn't mind the turn of events by morning.

    Katsuki’s blood ran ice-cold as he took in the impossible sight—Izuku’s body, motionless on the ground, and Izuku, hovering just above it, transparent and flickering like a ghost.

    His voice was barely a whisper. “K-Kacchan?”

    Katsuki took a step back, his heart hammering. “What the fuck—” He turned on the villain, rage boiling in his veins. “What the fuck did you do?!”

    The villain smirked, lazily twirling his fingers as the eerie glow of his quirk pulsed around Izuku’s ghostly form. “Relax, he’s not dead.”

    Katsuki’s hands trembled as he clenched them into fists. “Then fix him, you creepy son of a bitch.”

    The villain sighed, amused. “I can’t. The only way for him to get back into his body is if someone reciprocates his feelings.”

    Silence.

    Katsuki’s jaw tightened. “The fuck does that mean?”

    The villain smirked. “Exactly what it sounds like.” He gestured toward Izuku’s spirit. “Until someone who matters feels the same way he does, he’s stuck like that.”

    In another world where Izuku is attacked by the sludge villain on the way to school instead of after it, his dreams get crushed too soon. With nothing to save him and Katsuki’s words ringing in his ears, Izuku decides to end it all by jumping off his school’s roof. As his body cracks on the ground, Izuku does not pass on to the next world. Instead, he is left as a ghost among many others. When the slime villain escapes from jail and attacks the person Izuku can’t help but care for, he learns that there may be more to his afterlife than he thought.

    And maybe he can be a hero after all.

Encounters with Eraser and his attempts to adopt a stray. Having a real friendship with a purple-haired outcast from society. Adopting a drug dealer and turning him into a minimally decent person who didn't want to burn the world. Causing aneurysms for Detective Tsukauchi and giving nightmares and traumas to a great number of people.

    The truth was, many things had changed since Izuku had died. Now that his abandoned corpse had been discovered on Dagobah Beach, Izuku had been forced to disappear at the hands of his self-proclaimed adoptive brother, Dabi.

    What Izuku was not aware of is that neither Aizawa nor Tsukauchi would give up on the kid. No, now that they had the slightest clue about what the hell was happening with Izuku Midoriya, they weren't going to let it slide. They would get to the bottom of the matter and bring their problem child back home with them.

      oh gosh. oh geez. oh my goodness. holy heck. this was hauntingly beautiful.

      basically: izuku midoriya has a ghost quirk, and it follows basically the same plot as the show. EXCEPT.

      izuku is a pun loving menace (affectionate) and uses his quirk in tandem with one for all. the previous holders of one for all are all chaotic sweethearts.

      this is one of those fics that starts out really light and very slice-of-life-esque, but then it steps deeper and deeper into the plot and just gets heavier and heavier. and then you look back. and you wonder where all the light went. but you can't turn back, and you don't want to turn back, because your life has been changed and you can't help but want to move on and cheer izuku as time keeps passing.

      shouto was such a lovely friend!!! i would die for inko!!! toshinori is doting and precious!!!

      ghost reread it when you can!!! took me like 3 days to binge this whole thing, i think, but the lack of sleep was worth it.

      like okay it basically follows the same path of the manga. but it's oh so different. and i'm so glad it is. this fic was stunning, so well written (THIS AUTHOR HAS THE TASTIEST WRITING STYLE, I SWEAR!), and it's such a treat to read. i just sldfjlkdsjfklsdjflkdsjflskdjf

      10000000000000/10. during the last half, all that was running through my mind was the tokyo ghoul soundtrack and OST and it was quite the incredible experience XD
