Summary
Rook's eyes are old as oak when she smiles. She is no longer the fierce, frightened little girl Viago dragged out from behind a barrel all those years ago, but no less likely to bite down hard on any hand he offers. He carefully puts down his blade. It catches the light and, just for a moment, everything is silver.

Summary
Viago still wasn’t certain what made him agree to take the child. Maybe it was the resolute fire in her eyes, despite watching her mother bleed out in front of her. Maybe it was the way she walked so quietly that it impressed even him. Maybe it was the way that she managed to keep up with him while they traveled the rooftops, and he saw the raw potential in her, waiting for someone to shape it into something sharp and deadly. Or maybe it was the remnants of his bleeding heart that his trainers had ridiculed him for before. The one he believe he had stamped out as a Fledgeling, but flared up painfully as the child silently handed him a bloodstained note.

It had happened again. After getting fucking close to their target, everything had gone to hell. Now Varric was seriously injured, and he'd put her in charge of the team.
Alecto de Riva, having been expelled from Antiva, continues her journey alongside Varric Tethras, to prevent the destruction of the world at the hands of Solas, the legendary Dread Wolf. The Shadow of Treviso has become Rook, but deep inside she feels that perhaps she has not changed that much.
Will she be up to the task?

Summary
Two Crows, a ragtag gang of roommates, and their allies walk into the apocalypse and walk out a family.
Zelena de Riva took the contract to help Varric hunt Solas as a way to return to Viago's good graces after the Antaam debacle. She didn't plan on being in charge of saving the world. She also didn't plan on Lucanis Dellamorte.
Good thing improvisation had always been her greatest strength - and that the family she left behind in Antiva had no intention of leaving her to save the world alone.

Summary
Formerly House De Riva's secret weapon, the protégé of the Fifth Talon, Selora "Rook" de Riva, is grappling with being thrust into leadership after confronting Solas in Minrathous. The contract she took with Varric has only gotten increasingly more complicated. One those complications arriving in the shape of Lucanis Dellamorte, master assassin and grandson of the First Talon. Selora only knows the Demon of Vyrantium through the stories told about him but, as it turned out, breaking him out of the Ossuary was the easy part. Fresh out of a Venatori prison, possessed by a demon, and reeling from the loss of his grandmother, Lucanis is wary of them but committed to completing the contract Caterina left for him.
As the Disgraced Crow and Crow-Turned-Abomination gain each other's trust and learn to work together against the larger threat facing Thedas, they realize their respective pasts have positioned them right where they needed to be to find each other.

Summary
What if Solas never tore down the Veil? What if the Fade remained untouched, and the cataclysms that could have reshaped the world never unfolded? In this tale, the Fade holds firm, and Rook, an ambitious Crow with everything to prove, never encountered the events that might have rewritten her destiny. Instead, fate’s intricate threads led her to Nevarra, a land where shadows deepen and ancient relics stir.

Summary
The Crows would kill you for not living up to the price they put on your head. Even if they bought you for the measly cost of a head of cabbage. And they killed most, that didn’t get themselves killed first. Out of a dozen, only a lucky one or two would come out on top.
Rook should never have been one of them. But if they ever changed their minds, Lucanis Dellamorte was only a stone's throw away. All it took was one word from the Talons, and she was dead meat.
For now, she was a sitting duck, barely able to keep her head above water. And the sharks were coming. Smelling blood. -

Summary
Varric can’t see past his love for the people he cares about enough to realize that what he really needs to do is leave them in the dust where they belong, because they’ll never meet the expectations he has for them to be decent, or just good enough. People that will only fail him again, and again. People like Solas. People like Rook.
Not this time.

Summary
“You can call me Luca,” he said, leaning back in his chair. “And Vi told me that if I’d ever like to feel safe drinking my favourite coffee again, I shouldn’t tell you more than that.”
“Hey,” I objected, eating my soup around the chunks of meat and pretending I’d never had any concerns about poison in my life. I smiled, like we were sharing a joke. "How am I supposed to report back to him if you don’t tell me anything?”
Luca exhaled through his nose in a slow, controlled breath.
“He said that you’re very serious,” I told him.
“Now that,” said Luca, “Would be a genuinely hilarious thing for him to say.”
While still with the Crows, a young Rook is assigned to a suicide mission. Viago insists that Lucanis keep them alive. Rook begins to consider the merits of seduction.
Or, the gothic horror of the Antivan countryside meets the detective noir of Minrathous. In spite of it all, this is a love story.

Summary
Before she was the Veilguard’s infamous ‘Rook’ de Riva, she had just been ‘Rookie’—to Viago at least—the name always huffed in a rather annoyed and exasperated tone. It is in his House de Riva that she finds a family; in the Lighthouse that she finds companionship; and in the darkest corner of the pantry, that Rook finds love.
---
Rookie is set on a fast-tracked journey to change the world, but she'll do it her way, one Crow at a time—starting with her surly guildmaster. Through every trial, their inexplicable bonds are tested time and time again, and challenges the heart of what it means to be a Crow.
Covers both pre-Veilguard events and in-game storylines. Crow-centric, with (un)healthy helpings of Viago de Riva.
