Mafia (2002) sounds like a great concept, blending a gritty crime story with open-world gameplay, but unfortunately, it hasn’t aged well. The saving system is broken, forcing you to replay long sections if you fail, and there’s no manual save like in Max Payne, which would have made the experience less frustrating. The driving is sluggish and tedious, and the constant police attention for speeding only adds to the annoyance, especially since many missions revolve around driving long distances. The shooting mechanics are also poor, making combat feel clunky, and the lack of a decent aiming system doesn’t help. As for the story, while it may have been intriguing at first, the awful voice acting and flat delivery make it hard to immerse yourself in the plot. At this point, you’re better off watching the cutscenes on YouTube or playing the remake. Overall, Mafia just feels like a game that didn’t live up to its potential.

Wolfenstein 3D, released in 1992, holds a legendary place in gaming history as the trailblazer for the first-person shooter (FPS) genre. While its groundbreaking nature is undeniable, the game shows its age by modern standards. The movement feels slow and stiff, and the lack of animations can be jarring, leaving the gameplay experience somewhat flat. The level designs, though ambitious for their time, are repetitive and offer limited visual variety, often blending into a monotonous pattern.
However, Wolfenstein 3D deserves immense credit for its pioneering spirit. It laid the foundation for FPS games to come, revolutionizing gaming with its perspective and gameplay mechanics. Without this classic, the genre wouldn't be where it is today. For those interested in gaming history, it's a fascinating—and nostalgic—glimpse into the roots of FPS gaming.

"Duke Nukem 3D" is a quintessential old-school first-person shooter that perfectly balances over-the-top action with cheeky humor. Its unapologetically cheesy tone and tongue-in-cheek one-liners give the game a unique personality that sets it apart from its peers.

The gameplay is fast-paced and dynamic, filled with creative level designs and a variety of weapons that keep the experience fresh. Its irreverent humor adds an extra layer of charm, making every encounter entertaining. For fans of classic shooters, it's hard not to admire the game’s commitment to delivering unfiltered fun.

In my opinion, "Duke Nukem 3D" stands tall as the best old-school FPS. Its combination of humor, chaotic action, and memorable levels cements its place as a classic that still holds up to this day. It’s a must-play for anyone seeking a retro gaming experience with attitude!
