Leo Valdez's Workshop/Bunker Nine - Scrapped piece lol. ⚒️🔥

As some know, recently trying to A) develop more comfort with backgrounds/scenery, both composition & rendering, and B) do more sketches instead of rendering/finishing every single drawing.

Bunker 9 felt like a good challenge, but I've decided I no longer like the design! (Kinda unfortunate as I already cleaned a lot of the sketch...) Perhaps will try again in the future. I didn't skim the source material before starting, and I'd prefer to include some of those quirky elements in the future. :) Still happy with this Leo though (he finally looks more his age LOL).

Idk how this was found again but most of this was kept the same tbh. I’m still so iffy about Esperanza new rome. Because it definitely explains why she struggles to get a job because her degree is from candyland but also idkkkkk maybe that’s too much. But no, its not cuz I can be crazy. I took away Beryl’s mom and gave her abusive dad because it ties in much better with Jason’s themes with his own dad and neglect. Tristan is relatively the same i just made him a cry baby tbh and I’m ok with that. I really did want them to be duplicates of the lost trio, I was not subtle at all! But also since they are on the precipice of the demigod world, their world isn’t shaped by being a demigod, but it’s shaped around the allure of brushing against it.

unless they specifically asked, you don’t get to tell a fanfic writer you think they mischaracterized the character by the way. because the second someone writes a fanfic about a character, that character becomes the writer’s own version of the character. canon is only a suggestion, but whether or not an author will follow it / how much of canon an author will take is entirely up to them. you don’t get to stick your nose in their world and tell them “hey this is not to my liking therefore I think you’re doing it wrong” when you can simply leave quietly and move on to something else you may enjoy

Id be a pretty average demigod at chb, I have no desire to have a billion powers. Like truly my day to day is pissing off the horse man, miraculously having a tummy ache only on the training wall days, straight up not even trying in the camp games, running and embezzling the camp store during my shift, calling my lil sibs babies and weak while immediately sobbing the moment im strapped on a pegasus, and sitting like 🙄 during the camp songs cuz I'm too old for this baby shit btw (I'm 14) until my favorite song comes on because that's DIFFERENT OKAY! and sure I GUESS it's cool that there's some big three kids, but percy broke the toilets that one time and I'd be mad cuz it's my favorite toilet stall, so man, fuck that johnson kid, I don't care he's powerful, he's gonna be paying double for a mars bar when it's my shift 🤨

When they tell me I can go to demigod college (New Rome) i’ll be like “noooo I’m escaping, I’m leaving this stupid dump and making a name for myself FAR AWAY FROM HERE!!!!” and then id mentally be debating if majoring in combat would have more job opportunities than majoring in biology. probably just work as a barista nearby, and I’d fail half my classes but it’s whatever cuz I’m having fun. And then I can’t afford the new rome taxes so I have to go out on my own for the first time, and I’d break down because I’ve never NOT had demigod friends with me and the world is scary :( and then I’d just go be a gym teacher or something idk
