This paper describes a hierarchical simulation framework for modeling complex systems. We describe the implementation of the framework as a two-stage model in the specific case of a phone quality testing process; this is a real-life example based on a study for a major cell phone manufacturer. The framework is applicable when certain factors are difficult to integrate into the simulation model and the system can be studied conditional to these factors. The hierarchical model can be used for studying system behavior for all the factors; and inferring important / useful relationships for system design / parameter selection. A simple design parameter selection problem for the phone quality testing process is considered to exemplify this.

We provide a new necessary and sufficient check for testing the isomorphism of two 2-level regular fractional factorial designs. The approach is based on modeling fractional factorial designs as bipartite graphs. We employ an efficient canonical graph labeling approach to compare two designs for isomorphism. We then improve upon the existing non-isomorphic fractional factorial design generation algorithm by reducing the number of candidate designs from which isomorphs need to be removed. Not only does our method generate non-isomorphic designs much faster, it is also able to generate designs with run sizes of 2048 and 4096 runs, which were not generated by the existing methods.

The demonetization decision by the government of India affected almost all service sectors of Indian economy, out of which the banking sectors were affected the most. Due to demonetization bulk amount of old currency notes of INR 500 and INR 1000 were deposited to banks; that not only increased the capital base of banks, but those un-used cash boosted the liability of loan disbursement. Again the reducing interest rates, providing account opening facility and issuing loan to the depositors by banks without judging their repayment ability resulted a chance of increasing number of defaulters and the value of nonperforming assets.
