Just different.  Compared to lunges, these will carry less Systemic fatigue (ie. your nervous system) but…  May be more locally fatiguing (I.e. impaired muscle function)  Whereas stress would be more dispersed across a variety of muscles (glutes, quads, hamstrings, etc) in a lunge, stress will be localized to just the quads in this exercise which make sense as to why it’s so awful but equally great for the quads  How you fit into the bigger picture of your workout programming will be heavily based on your goals and capacity  Oh, and it may help t Quad Muscles, Leg Extension, The Bigger Picture, Bigger Picture, Leg Extensions, Workout Ideas, Healthy Fitness, Fitness Lifestyle, Big Picture
