Fragen über die Beispielsätze mit, und die Definition und Benutzung von "Sir"
Die Bedeutung von "Sir" in verschiedenen Ausdrücken und Sätzen
Q:
Was bedeutet 'Sir Cadogan was the only one brave enough to volunteer.'?
A:
Yes, you are very confused!
If you begin the sentence with – he WAS the only one…, Then you must maintain the tense IF you carry on to say – who WAS brave enough…
What I said was – if you leave out the “who was“, the sentence still makes sense, and is no longer a statement about his bravery in the past, but about his general sense of bravery.
All this stuff you wrote:
If he brave in the past, but not now. Can use 'who is'
If he brave in the past, and he also brave now. Must use 'who was'.
… All of that is totally wrong.

A:
"set the bar (high/low)
To establish an expected, required, or desired standard of quality. (Often said of a standard that is constrictive in being either too low or too high)."
.
It references the quantity necessary to meet the requirements being either very low or very high. In this case, the meaning is that it takes VERY little for the referenced person to consider an event dramatic. Basically, they would be considered "a Karen". ;)

A:
Mr. is like an honorific. さん is the best translation (but only for men). You can attach mr. to names
"(student to teacher) Thank you, Mr. Smith. I really had no idea how to solve this."
Sir stands on its own. It completely replaces the name.
"(younger person to older stranger) Thank you, sir. I wouldn't know what to do without you."
Sir is also a title in Britian to recognize someone who is honored by the royal government as a knight. Only certain people can be called this way. Some examples: Sir Issac Newton, Sir Elton John, etc.

백화점에서 고객을 부를때 어떻게 부르나요?
Sir? Miss? Madame?
A:
According to the perceived age -
If it's a man - sir.
If it's a boy who is a teenager - young man
If it's a girl who is a teenager - miss
(Don't say "young lady" because it's usually used when they're in trouble)
If it's a woman under 50 - miss
("miss" will make her very happy if she's between 40-50)
If it's a woman over 50 - ma'am
("miss" will seem as if you're insincere and are sucking up to try to get her to buy something that she doesn't need)
My answer is based on American culture. We NEVER EVER used "madame" except when referring to the head prostitute of a house of ill repute.

Q:
Wie sagt man das auf Englisch (US)? Sir, could you tell me where are barely racist in America? states. please.
A:
@seohyunlee9412
america is a very versatile country that holds many races. however, wherever you go, there will be racism.
in my opinion, midwest states are to be avoided at all costs if you want to avoid racism. states like oklahoma, iowa, nebraska, kansas, etc.
populous cities such as new york city, boston, honolulu, and LA have the most variety of races. NYC and LA have many cities dedicated to different countries (many east asian countries) such as Korea town, China town, and Japan town.
Smaller, less populous areas will have more racist people since they have less exposure to people of different cultures and colors of skin.

Q:
Dear Sir,
I am a customer of your car rental company. I rented a red Toyota Prius at your outlet in the downtown of Detroit from 20th of April to 20th of March.
Yesterday, I had a road accident. I waited for green light at an intersection and another car bumped into my car's back. Fortunately, the speed wasn't high so it caused only a small bent and scrapes. The driver explained that a break system of his car wasn't working properly so he couldn't stop completely.
Right after the accident we called the road police and they filled a report that says that another driver admitted his fault so you will not have problems with getting the insurance payment.
Nevertheless, due to the rented car is damaged I would like to know if you can provide me with another car instead of this.
Thank you in advance
You sincerely

Q:
Dear Sir,
I wanted to let you know that I am coming to live in Sidney permanently. I would like to ask if you can help me to find a place to live in before I arrive and start my new job.
I am going to live alone so I would prefer a small and clean apartment for a reasonable price to a house. Also a room with a bed and a private bathroom is a good option. A kitchen might be shared with my neighbors because I rarely cook.
My work place is located in the North of the city so I would like something in that district but the downtown area suits me, too. I do weightlifting and spend a lot of time outdoors so a gym or a park or even the both near the apartment is an advantage. Additionally, I have to add that I want to live somewhere new, so anything in a modern apartment block would be great.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Q:
Dear Sir,
I eat at your cafeteria almost every day because it's only cafeteria at our college. Despite there are some deficiencies that should be put right it's more convenient than bring food from home.
Firstly, I think you should hire more employees because serving customers takes too much time and as you know majority of them are students so they have to eat really quickly to finish their meals before the next class.
Second, you should add some new dishes in the menu because you have been serving the same meals for the last 6 months.
Third, can you wash dishes and cutlery better because they often are dirty and fat so customers wash it under the tap for hands and wipe it with napkins.
Yours faithfully

This is mostly correct, just a few minor errors. :)

Q:
Dear Sir,
I am a Russian national from Moscow, studying engineering on my 3rd grade at Vancouver Technical University, my major is hydraulic presses and hydraulic machines. I have 3 month experience of working in a small flying company as a repairman of hydraulic aircraft systems. If you need I will provide you with references from my former employer.
I am looking for a part-time job and I am able to work only during the evenings and at weekends as my study requires me to attend lessons. I wonder if you can help me. I would like to get a job related to my major at a factory or other place. However if you don't have any engineering vacancies I am open for any kind of jobs, for instance, I can work as a guide for Russian speaking tourists in Vancouver or in a workshop as a mechanic.
I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Yours faithfully,
