Educopia connects diverse knowledge communities with resources, power, and each other.

Founded in 2006, Educopia is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes knowledge sharing and capacity building among organizations, communities, and individuals. Our goal is to create the conditions necessary for the equitable production, sharing, and preservation of knowledge.

We do this work by offering Consulting, Fiscal Sponsorship, and Research services to various knowledge communities, including universities, museums, libraries, archives, government agencies, professional consortia, grassroots groups, and other meta-organizations.

Pursuing our mission, our programmatic agenda focuses on: abundance and equity, sustainable labor conditions, collective impact, community-controlled infrastructure, and systems leadership. We do this at various levels:

At the Organization Level

Operationalizing Equity, from the Inside-Out

We embrace equity, diversity, and interdependence from the inside-out, ensuring that our mission, vision, and values are reflected in our internal systems and across all services and functions.

We codify our learnings to create open educational resources, such as our Community Cultivation Framework. These resources not only guide our own organizational development and culture-building but are also offered freely to help other knowledge communities nurture the health and sustainability of their collaborative networks.

Collaborating to Create Systems-Level Change

Through diverse convenings—ranging from research projects to symposia—Educopia serves as a site of exchange where individuals, groups, and communities share wisdom and resources, creating broader knowledge networks that address systems-level issues.

We cultivate relationships rooted in deep trust and reciprocity, fostering a culture rich in peer-to-peer learning opportunities.

Creating Accessible Pathways to Opportunity

As a backbone organization with a proven track record, we leverage our unique position in the knowledge landscape to redistribute resources between established organizations and emerging groups, reshaping the landscape toward sustained equity.

We provide under-resourced and underrepresented groups with opportunities to build their capacity and skill sets in fundraising, advocacy, and impact assessment.
