Citation Question
editI realize that information on Wikipedia pages should be cited, but doesn't that seem to suggest that every sentence has a citation? I'm just curious. Is that really what's supposed to happen? I see hundreds of articles without citations except for once in a while. Even legit encyclopedias don't have citations for every sentence. How can an editor know what to cite or not to cite if the information they list is part of their general knowledge base versus something they add based on research or info gleaned from another source? Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Proving the truth of Digimon.
editI'm so sorry, but I found those article to prove that Hasbro is acquiring all of the entertainment assets by Saban Brands. If you read those articles from those to prove that Digimon was part of the entertainment assets including Power Rangers, Treehouse Detectives, Julius Jr., Popples, and others, including Glitter Force. Do you believe me now? Sources: https://investor.hasbro.com/news-releases/news-release-details/hasbro-closes-acquisition-saban-properties-power-rangers-and https://newsroom.hasbro.com/news-releases/news-release-details/hasbro-acquire-saban-brands-power-rangers-and-other PascalMuganyizi (talk) 02:03, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- @PascalMuganyizi: I would still wait before adding this information. The press release does say it acquired Saban's assets but it does not explicitly mention Digimon. For all we know, it is possible another company may have picked it up. Please do not add the information until there is a stronger confirmation. lullabying (talk) 02:40, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
Are you sure? PascalMuganyizi (talk) 12:02, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- @PascalMuganyizi: I am sure. The press release says nothing about Digimon and therefore this information should not be added. A more explicit confirmation is needed so that there is no more edit warring. lullabying (talk) 17:30, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
But it said "other entertainment assets," in the papers. PascalMuganyizi (talk) 19:43, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- @PascalMuganyizi: Digimon wasn't specifically mentioned. The press release does not say which Digimon series was attained by Hasbro. It should not be added until we have more information. There are also currently rumors that Toei Animation are now the sole distributors for Digimon and if you have a clearer source, it would significantly stop the editing wars on the articles. lullabying (talk) 20:24, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- Third Opinion. This is not a subject area I know anything about, but I've read the Hasbro corporate press release linked above, specifically this
as part of the transaction, Hasbro acquired Saban Properties’ interests in several additional entertainment assets, including My Pet Monster, Popples, Julius Jr., Luna Petunia, Treehouse Detectives and others
and find it unclear whether Hasbro is purchasing all of Saban's properties in this deal or not. But this will become clear in time, and I think this is a there is no deadline situation. Geogene (talk) 01:04, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

- @Angel135: I don't doubt these claims, but these aren't valid sources. We should wait until an official confirmation comes out to avoid edit warring on the articles (see WP:NODEADLINE). Your edits to the page Lead (band)
editYou have changed and reverted my edits to the page for the group Lead.
The members refer to each other and to their fans using their first names during tours, various short movies they've released and their "home movies" posted to their official YouTube. Hiroki leaving the group was a large step and change for the group and his departure is relevant to the band's history. Given that he had been planning to leave the group for over a year, it's information that people reading the article should be made aware of when reviewing the group. The departure of a founding member is something that cannot be glossed over for the article to have thorough and informative material.
Member color, as I have explained before, corresponds to "member edition" singles they have release throughout the years ("Hurricane", "Tokyo Fever", "Speed Star", etc.). Either backgrounds or colors of the titles refer to the member's given "image color." This information is relevant and should not be removed. Xenobia4 (talk) 05:51, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Xenobia4: Wikpedia is not a fan site (see WP:NOTFANSITE). The Wikipedia refers to the names people use professionally. Unless you provide a source that they use their first names only as stage names, then it's improper to refer to them by their first names. Just because someone calls another by their first names (even in Japanese context), it does not mean it's used in a professional context unless there's a reliable source that states they use them as stage names (i.e. having music credits with just their first name, as an example). Please read WP:MOSBIO.
- I agree Nakadoi leaving is important but it does not need an entire section for something that can be summarized in one paragraph. It should be integrated into the "History" section otherwise it comes off as WP:UNDUE. Giving it its own section puts too much focus on it, and it does not reflect the overall weight of the article.
- I reformatted the members list to improve readability, which should be kept. Regarding their member colors, you need to link to a reliable source. Without a reliable source provided (just saying "They released it on their singles" isn't enough -- you need to have a reliable source that mentions these things) then it's considered WP:FAN and WP:ORIGINAL, which isn't allowed by this Wikipedia.
- For that reason, the article reads like a fan site to me. I must reiterate that Wikipedia is not a fan site, because I don't feel you seem to get what constitutes as original research and why it isn't allowed. I noticed you removed the tag without discussion -- please don't do that without discussing with other editors first. lullabying (talk) 10:10, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

editHi! Concerning this: [1]. As far as I know, there is now a book containing mini reviewa for all of their singles. I think that was done at least for Momusu, Berryz and Cute. --Moscow Connection (talk) 10:17, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
- If you can find the review itself, you can use it to expand the article. Otherwise, it's not considered notable. If the book is self-published, it's not a reliable source. lullabying (talk) 16:41, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

editHi! Could you please not remove links to Cute and Berryz Kobo from the "Japanese idol" article? They are those "Morning Musume's sister groups" that the sentence talks about, so why not mention them?
And I would also like to note that the list you completely removed wasn't a much bigger OR than the list of the most-selling idols. (Yes, I see there is a good source, but it's from 2011 and some of the numbers were updated from other sources and seem to differ too drastically. I also would like to alert you of a possibility of the list growing into something like the "list of best-selling music artists", which is utterly original.) I'm not saying it has to be removed, though. But just think, what's more useful for the reader, the list you removed or the list of celebrities from times long bygone? (I would have both.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 01:19, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
I've also posted here:
You don't have to reply there, though. I put some effort into the article some years ago and since then it waited for attention from a native English speaker with good literary skills and (finally!) you are the person. And you have good research skills, too. I greatly appreciate your contribution. I'm not planning to interfere and will just wait for future developments. Presently I'm just asking you to mention Cute, Berryz Kobo and S/mileage a.k.a. Angerme and to think about adding the active idols list back in some form. Maybe you can find a good source for a short selective list by agency/project.
(But still, could you please be more respectful to other people's views/opinions? I've also found a message by Ouranista who told you practically the same thing.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 02:16, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

Legacypac (talk) 20:52, 11 February 2019 (UTC)Mass removal of sources
editDon't do this [5], [6]. First of all, "Babymetal" is a carefully referenced article, and you mixed up all the references. Secondly, you yourself said in you edit summaries that the sources you were removing were simply translations from Japanese sources. Wouldn't it be more logical for you to find the originals and replace the translations with them? Thirdly, Wikipedia is a work in progress. Your removal of sources impeded the future development of the article and thus was unhelpful. --Moscow Connection (talk) 09:18, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Moscow Connection: Arama! Japan is a gossip blog and isn't considered WP:RELIABLE for news (they are fine for interviews, however). It was originally a spin-off of Oh No They Didn't. Some of their articles are still written in a memetic joking manner and the nature of the website (in which they have accepted articles written by their readers) still hardly makes them a valid source. Sometimes they don't reference the sources they translated from. Removing unreliable sources is not impeding future development -- I had planned on replacing with the original sources but at a later time. Please assume WP:GOODFAITH, as I have repeatedly warned you. lullabying (talk) 09:31, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) As far as I know, Arama! Japan contributors simply translate Japanese news. So it's unlikely that there are factual errors. And it's 1000 times easier to find a reliable Japanese source if you already have a translation than if you have nothing at all.
It was impeding future development cause now someone who cares can easily find a replacement source. But if there are no sources, the next step will be to remove the information as unsourced. And, in the case of Babymetal, to simply delete half the article cause after what you did it appears to have fake sources and looks like written by someone who can't be trusted.
If you don't really care enough / don't have enough time to go and find the originals, you should just mark the sources as unreliable (there is a special template for this) and wait until someone replaces them. --Moscow Connection (talk) 09:58, 16 March 2019 (UTC) - How am I not assuming good faith? I obviously do. Did I warn you for vandalism or something? No, I came and explained why I thought what you did was wrong and bad for the articles. --Moscow Connection (talk) 10:03, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
- "I had planned on replacing with the original sources but at a later time."
Then could you please do this for the Babymetal article? In the next couple of days? Cause I'm looking at it now and it seems to me that your edit cannot be easily reverted. I'm afraid I would have to spend half an hour putting back everything you removed. But the article can't be left as it is cause the sources are all mixed up now. --Moscow Connection (talk) 10:15, 16 March 2019 (UTC)- Arama! Japan used to be a LiveJournal community before they made their own site, and if you believe there are any "errors", just read their Maki Goto articles and see that their tone may cause the source to fall into WP:RELIABLE territory. You already reverted my edits on other articles to an earlier revision. For the Babymetal article, from my memory, I only remembered about 1-3 sources. I might be wrong about this though, and recovering the sources from those edits won't take too long. lullabying (talk) 21:35, 16 March 2019 (UTC)

Aoi Shouta's Wikipedia page
editHello, I saw you've been recently the main editor for the Aoi Shouta Wikipedia page. I hadn't opened it in a while, but recently I did and noticed his name is now listed as "Yanagawa Noboru". Although that has a source from 2004, him using the name in that festival in 2004 doesn't really make it any more official than the name he uses now and might as well have been just another alias. It's known that Aoi Shouta is just a stage name, but neither his agency or he ever came forward saying that Yanagawa Noboru is his actual name, so listing it as his birth name when not even the Japanese Wikipedia does so seems wrong. However, as you seem to have been the main overseer of that page, I wanted to talk to you about it and know your reason to listing it as his real name before I try to make any changes (like transferring the name from the top of the page to a section saying "His true name is believed to be Yanagawa Noboru[yamaha festival source], although no official statement from him, his agency, or any of his associates ever confirmed it.", since that seems more accurate). Lefaery (talk) 01:00, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Lefaery: The name Noboru Yanagawa was used during a period before Shouta Aoi was famous; people don't use stage names if they're not celebrities. There's also the fact that he has performed as "Noboru" and posted videos on Niconico under the name "Noboru." Your claim is still valid though, but Japanese Wikipedia is not a good reason to back it up especially since Japanese media exhibits a lot of self-censorship and usually does its best to protect people's personal lives. If you do want to remove it, we will have to remove "birth name" altogether. Also, we can't word this as "His true name is believed to be etc..." as Wikipedia is not a place for speculation. lullabying (talk) 01:33, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
Although it isn't common that people who aren't celebrities to use stage names, there are actually various cases of people using aliases/stage names/etc from the start of their career. So this could very well be the case, seeing as there is still no concrete proof of it being his birth name. I saw the 'believed to' as something like 'his fans speculate that', not as the Wikipedia in itself speculating it, but I see how it could be seen as this either way. I still think it could be removed as his birth name and just listed as a name he used previously, because it's, in the end, all that it is confirmed as, unless a reliable source (like a family member, an interview by him, his agency, or even something like a birth certificate) comes forward confirming it. Also as you were the one to remove it in the first place, I want to give it a heads up that I'll be putting back the title 'songwriter' on his page, as he's been listed as the songwriter in at least one song for every album or mini album he has released in recent times, like 'Powder Snow' (album Zero), 'I Am' (cd Eclipse) and '奪えないもの' on his latest cd (Tone) released this month. Just so it isn't deleted again. EDIT: I also want to add that in one of his radio shows, he said that his real name was actually Shouta, with just a different kanji, although Aoi was not his surname. I'd be happy to cite that episode/a recording of it as a source on his page too. Lefaery (talk) 21:37, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Lefaery: You can add back the songwriter part. If you want to add the citation for his name, that's fine too, but I suggest we hold off on the birth name part because we don't have the characters for his first name, nor do we know his last name. We can list "Noboru Yanagawa" in prose during the early life section as it wasn't a name he used professionally. lullabying (talk) 22:27, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
Yes, I think listing it in prose on the early life section seems fine. Since you've been the one making the big changes on his page and knows more about the Wikipedia formatting, I'll leave it to you to add that (when you have the time), if that's ok. Also on some of my searches, he also confirmed on a radio that he participated in a high school nationals tennis tournament during his school years, in 2003. Following with the fact that he said previously that his name was actually Shouta, I found a record of all the participants of the tournament on that year and, although again it is not confirmed, the closest I could find to his real name was Yanagawa Shouta (柳川 翔太), and it seems that is also the agreement Japanese fans have come to. (source for the tournament participants list). Although I don't think that is enough confirmation or valid source to use on Wikipedia, I figured it'd be good if you knew this information too. Lefaery (talk) 23:13, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Lefaery: Thanks for sharing. Since it's still speculation, I still don't think we should mention his birth name unless the facts are solid. lullabying (talk) 23:20, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
List of Episodes
editAs mentioned on the "List of Miracle Tunes Episodes" edit, the summaries should each meet the 200-word count and are no different compared to the episode summaries on shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which is rated as a good article.2603:9000:7D0A:8C00:AD8D:167A:A080:FEE4 (talk) 01:14, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- By extending the episode summaries you risk having WP:FLOWERY and Wikipedia:Too much detail. The episode plots of each episode are really simple and aren't as convoluted as the examples you mentioned, especially since each episode is half the runtime of those series. Realistically episode summaries should be short because of Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Writing about fiction#Accuracy and appropriate weight. Also, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a good article not because of the episode summaries; it included extended information about reception and broadcasting. lullabying (talk) 15:47, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- And yet lists like My Little Pony, which has the same amount of minutes as Miracle Tunes, use what I consider the right amount of information: accurate and to-the-point.2603:9000:7D0A:8C00:6903:C485:DEEF:3135 (talk) 23:56, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- Right, but I reverted your edits mostly because you keep adding unnecessary detail and expressing events in a flowery manner. I have no problem if you want to change up things, but your edits have been making the summaries longer than they need to be. lullabying (talk) 00:14, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- Define "unnecessary detail" and "expressing events in a flowery manner," because I took your comments in account and reduce my summaries for a more professional appearance.2603:9000:7D0A:8C00:6903:C485:DEEF:3135 (talk) 01:32, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- Specifically speaking, In this edit, line 308 is an example where you mentioned, "After Yuzuhara has Kojiro help her get the camera crew out of Montana... Kanon's mother, having witnessed the fight once finishing a new set of cakes for the girls, keeps it to herself while asking Kanon to come to her if she ever has troubles." I found the part where you mentioned "Yuzuhara has Kojiro help her get the camera crew out" a little unnecessary because it's not important to the overall plot. The main point of episode summaries is to give a brief summary of events -- if people want to know every single thing that happens, then it's on them to watch it themselves. lullabying (talk) 16:46, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- Plot-wise, Yuzuhara enlisting Kojiro's help was namely to move the story since the girls cannot transform in public. That might have been actually flowery if I added the "UFO" excuse and the comedy that went with it. I reword the draft of said episode with the word count at 101 for your review.
- Episode 25: Miracle² film a Grab the Miracle segment at the Montana sweets cafe where Kanon's mother works at. But Nechigae turns the shop assistants into the Negative Jewelers Mushiba and Sashiba, who sabotage the cakes the girls were to eat. After Yuzuhara enlisted Kojiro to distract the camera crew, the Miracle Tunes assume Hip-Hop Mode to purify the Negative Jewelers during a rap battle, recovering the Opera Jewel. The girls are unware that Mrs. Ichinose witnessed their fight once she finished a new cakes for them, keeping their secret while asking Kanon to come to her if she ever has troubles. 2603:9000:7D0A:8C00:DC81:E051:7769:1944 (talk) 19:35, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry to get back to you late, but I personally don't think you should mention "After Yuzuhara enlisted Kojiro to distract the camera crew" because the information is excessive and minor. The article is already long as is and it's supposed to give a quick view of each episode, not listing what happens in detail. lullabying (talk) 20:30, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi,
The references "8days.sg" is a magazine published by Mediacorp.
Also this article is in English but all the references are in Japanese which most readers don't understand at all. That's why I added the ref in English. Just like many Korean articles with many references in Korean. I always wonder why. If I can understand Japanese or Korean, I would just read the Japanese or Korean Wikipedia articles. No need to read the English Wikipedia article.
Anyway, it's up to you if you want to delete the reference. Jjaey (talk) 05:07, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Jjaey: Thanks for letting me know. Also, sources don't have to be in English to create an article. lullabying (talk) 16:56, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

Question regarding removal of cited source on the Free! page
editHello. I'm curious as to why you shortened a sentence that is properly referenced and has been on the wiki for over six years without any objection from you until now? The data is factual and I see no implication that the animation studio developed the series because of fan activity. The original citation of ("Fake anime series inspires real fans on Tumblr". The Daily Dot. Retrieved March 12, 2013.) simply states that fan response was high and petitions were sent to create a series. This is absolutely true. Kyoto Animation acted independently, not because of the fans and the sentence doesn't say the studio acted in response to fan requests. If a clarifying sentence is warranted, add it, but if a documented fact is on the page, I believe it should remain on the page. I don't want to argue and I'm not even the person who originally wrote the sentence in 2013, but this doesn't make sense to me. Wikipedia is about honoring facts, not deleting them. Can you explain your action further so I understand where you're coming from? Ouranista (talk) 00:11, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- Getting fan work is nothing really notable and The Daily Dot isn't a good source (it's not listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject Anime and manga/Online reliable sources). None of the petitions are really notable except for Crunchyroll's. Better sources to be cited are these articles from Kotaku here and here (one of them does cite the original Daily Dot article but Kotaku is a bigger outlet for these sorts of things and also directly links to Crunchyroll's petition). But if you want to read the sentence with clarification and updated sources, then feel free to. It's better to give less weight to the fan response or to redo the sentence.
- The reason why it's undisputed for so long is partially because the majority of the people working on the anime-related articles on this Wiki don't understand Japanese and are thus disconnected from the Japanese sources (which a lot of interviews and guidebooks are released in).
- The issue with the sources, however, is that they are ambiguously worded so that people have the misconception that the anime was made solely because of fan response when it had been planned before that. You still have big outlets like Anime News Network perpetuating this misconception from time-to-time (their original article stated so before people sent them corrections). The Free! Guidebook (a fan translation here) states that the show had been planned since 2011. Unfortunately I do not own this book so I cannot give a correct citation to this. lullabying (talk) 16:04, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- I see what you're saying and after reading the provided translation, I'm inclined to leave things as they are right now. I don't believe the anime was actually in the works as of 2011 (ok, maybe it was a seed), but it certainly wasn't previewed in the spring of 2013 and aired that summer. Anime just doesn't work that way. Thanks for responding. Ouranista (talk) 19:51, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
Copyrightability of lists
editJust a heads up: simple lists are not copyrightable. The list you tagged on Yoshiji Kigami would be considered a simple list because it contains no original thought or content, instead listing simple facts or data. Un-did edit
editHello! May I ask why did you undo my edit in "Iris (Japanese band)" page?!
On my talk page with JalenFolf, they said: As far as I'm aware, the birthdates are already on each of the individual members' Wiki pages, so there's no point including them again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CuteDolphin712 (talk • contribs) 03:39, 22 August 2019 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: I had a conversation on Drmies' talk page and they said that it was BLP trivia that doesn't belong on the page, and I agree. If you look on a lot of girl group pages that regularly get edited like Angerme, Girls' Generation, Loona (group), and Spice Girls, a lot do not list birthdates. lullabying (talk) 15:48, 22 August 2019 (UTC)
From what I already said, if you say "member information best to go to their individual pages", you can do so. But the information would be too short and as of now, there could be little to no sources regarding them, so there's no point in creating article for them. Birthdays are according to their profile website. CuteDolphin712 (talk) 06:02, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
- CuteDolphin712, I don't think you should be going around telling people how Wikipedia works if you have under 300 edits here. This whole business about birthdays is silly: first of all, it only matters because K-pop and J-pop etc. appear to be essentially ageist and sexist. Thus, there is a commercial interest in all these members being a certain age. Second, that means we cannot trust sources like "profile website" since they are controlled by management: they are not independent, not reliable. As for "the information would be too short", I don't know what you mean with that, but I do know that Saki Yamakita is not notable by our standards, and warrants only a redirect, if that, to Iris (Japanese band). And please tell me you will make an effort to understand why (unverified) statements like "Saki Yamakita's favorite anime is Pokémon. Her dream is to be a person who can make people smile and give them hope" should never, EVER, be in Wikipedia. Drmies (talk) 14:15, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
- How to make them notable per GNG or NARTIST? I wish you could. I was not wrong. But why they appear to be essentially ageist and sexist?CuteDolphin712 (talk) 15:08, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: You need to find reliable secondary sources that report news on the actresses (outside of their activities with Iris). Anime News Network (news articles only) is a good place to start. Oricon and Natalie are also really good sources if you know Japanese. And I think what Drmies is saying is that their age seems to matter because of the Japanese idol and Korean idol industry where youth is valued, so it makes it seem like ages are important when they actually aren't. lullabying (talk) 15:50, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
- And that they have reason to be untruthful about it. Drmies (talk) 17:51, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
- Right. Agencies lie about their talents' birthdates all the time anyway. lullabying (talk) 17:52, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

Johnny & Associates
editThank you very much for your helpful feedback. I will go through to find better citations and re-evaluate each edit I had previously made. I assume articles and publications available exclusively in Japanese are still acceptable for articles in English Wikipedia?KittoNakajima (talk) 07:09, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
Hello Why did you undo my change? The table have been there for years someone erased it and I just restore it Is no bias, It have correct information about current groups and dates of debuts. 2020 Debuts was already announced so is correct to put them. Also It have the members information, just the same as the one in Temporary / special units — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kuronekonoyoru (talk • contribs) 22:14, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Kuronekonoyoru: It's considered trivia. The number of members in a group, along with the year debuted, should ideally go into the individual articles, while Johnny & Associates should focus on the company as a whole. Also, the reason why it's been there for years is because the majority of J-pop articles have really been only edited by its hardcore fan base who find details like this important and are unaware Wikipedia's Manual of Style. See SM Entertainment artists as an example of better formatting. Drmies might be able to explain this better than me. lullabying (talk) 22:19, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
Is not a trivia, is also on Wikipedia Japan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kuronekonoyoru (talk • contribs) 22:22, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Kuronekonoyoru: It is trivia, because the number of members in a group, along with the debut year, in a table that considerably contains more information than it should, does not matter on an article that focuses on its company. We are the English Wikipedia and we are not under obligations to follow the same format as Japanese Wikipedia. I suggest you read WP:TRIVIA and WP:EXCESSDETAIL. lullabying (talk) 22:26, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
Maybe the problem is just you don`t understand the way this company work`s and the information who is important to the people who really reads this information. I did not said you have to follow wiki jp, but why you think the information is there? Because is easier for people to get the info they need that way Also why you don`t erase the Temporary / special units table ? So that one is not a trivia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kuronekonoyoru (talk • contribs) 22:30, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Kuronekonoyoru: Maybe the problem is you didn't read the Manual of Styles I sent to you that explained why this information is inappropriate, such as WP:EXCESSDETAIL (and possibly WP:FAN). I haven't finished copy-editing the article but I do intend to reconstruct the "temporary units" section once I figure out how to format it. Also, please sign your posts with four tildes. lullabying (talk) 22:33, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
ok go ahead destroy something that was just perfect — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kuronekonoyoru (talk • contribs) 22:36, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- Kuronekonoyoru, it was a table full of trivia and weird symbols, lacking any kind of verification, with the comment "don't erase the table" in article space. There was nothing perfect about it. Drmies (talk) 22:54, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
Drmie I was talking on the one before that one, the original one. Also guidelines said that is not compulsorily to erase "trivias" About the comment well I apologize I though It was a fan messing up with the information on the site. But I think At least debut year have to be shown. Kuronekonoyoru (talk) 23:06, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Kuronekonoyoru: It does not, unless the group is no longer under the company. lullabying (talk) 16:24, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

editAnd again...
edit1. Pretty Rhythm: Dear My Future also features not only new Characters but those from Aurora Dream like Aira Harune, Rizumu Amamiya, and Mion Takamine.
2. On which section you add reliable secondary sources? References or External Links? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CuteDolphin712 (talk • contribs) 09:15, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
- Aira, Rizumu, and Mion are already listed on List of Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream characters. There's no need to list them again. I only separate List of Pretty Rhythm: Dear My Future characters because the first article was getting too long, and plus, that section should focus mostly on Dear My Future. Sources should be added under References -- External links is just a section to other websites. lullabying (talk) 09:39, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
1. What do you mean by "getting too long"? I don't really understand.
2. If you could ask administrator, is it necessary to delete "List of Pretty Rhythm characters" page? I think we don't need it anymore because each anime has their separate articles now.
3. There's no need to remove a character that only appears in one episode. I noticed your past edit in List of Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live characters... unless you have an obvious reason. CuteDolphin712 (talk) 09:57, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- The article got really long and it was just easier to give Dear My Future its own character article.
- No, List of Pretty Rhythm characters focuses on the game, not the anime.
- Characters that make one non-important appearance may qualify as Wikipedia:Fancruft. lullabying (talk) 10:06, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
Characters that make one non-important appearance may qualify as Wikipedia:Fancruft. Uh, can you actually explain it yourself?CuteDolphin712 (talk) 12:05, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: It means that since this character makes an appearance that is not important to the plot (such as a filler episode), it may not need to be added because it's just detail for the fans and not important to the article. lullabying (talk) 15:44, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
I know that. It's an official character, not fan-made. What is a filler episode?CuteDolphin712 (talk) 18:44, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: Official characters can qualify if they make one-time appearances that don't contribute to the plot. A filler episode is an episode that does not contribute to the overall plot of the show (This is common for shows that are adaptations based on manga where the serialization of the manga has not concluded). lullabying (talk) 20:10, 21 October 2019 (UTC)

Repeatedly being scolded
editI was scolded by User:scope_creep today because there were secondary sources but that user keeps reverting it. As you said before, I need to find reliable secondary sources that report news on the actresses (outside of their activities with Iris). Anime News Network (news articles only) is a good place to start. Oricon and Natalie are also good sources in Japanese language.
I found any sources about their activities with I Ris. Voice acting IS good example, so I WAS NOT WRONG!!CuteDolphin712 (talk) 13:25, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: I saw scope_creep's comment and their comment was reasonable. You don't have enough sources -- you've only listed one Natalie and one Oricon source. Moreover, she seems to have less than 10 acting credits and there is no note of whether they are lead or recurring. One of them is even "Customer A", and that's an extra role, so it's not a lead role. Scope isn't necessarily telling you that you can't make the article or is scolding you. They just said to make a draft and have someone check it to make sure it's okay. You can do so and ask someone from Wikipedia:WikiProject Anime and manga to help out. lullabying (talk) 15:57, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
1. I could ask someone from Wikipedia:WikiProject Anime and manga but since I don't know any users there (or not familiar with them), I'm not sure if I can do it myself. Can you ask yourself instead?
2. How many sources should there be? CuteDolphin712
3. Other than being the English Wikipedia, why are dub cast in other languages than Japanese and English dub [if available] not allowed? (I looked your 2 edits on "List of Pretty Rhythm characters": Removed Korean dub cast; this is the English Wikipedia which focuses on the original and any possible English dub versions). I guess Pretty Rhythm was never dubbed in Korean.
(talk) 11:30, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: You don't have to know any users there to ask. Just post a message on their talk page, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga to ask for help. If not, you can ask on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan for help.
- And re: removing the Korean cast -- imagine everyone adding the dub cast of every single language -- it's just Wikipedia:Fancruft and
WP:UNDUE. It'll get too long and it also includes information that only appeals to hardcore fans when that's what Wikia is for. The general audience of Wikipedia, who the website caters to, won't care about these details. The only cast members important now is Japanese (because it's the original version) and English (because it's the dub that most people reading this page will be familiar with). lullabying (talk) 15:42, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
In what case that the English dub cast will be removed despite having one? Maybe if the English version of that anime is fan-made or something? CuteDolphin712 (talk) 15:13, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: In any case the English dub is an unauthorized fan-made one. Then WP:PROMO and WP:G11 would apply. ミラP 16:54, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: If the dub is fan-made regardless of the language, then it shouldn't be listed on Wikipedia. Any official English dub information should be listed on Wikipedia where it is available. lullabying (talk) 09:26, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
- For example: if a TV show is from the United Kingdom, and it has been dubbed into American English, should the American cast be included in Characters' voice actors list? editSee again in my review that I add below in the section. 148.101.34.72 (talk) 17:25, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
- I looked at your source and often times artist profiles are just press adverts. It says she's an actress but it did not mention any notable live-action acting credits under her name. MOS:CONTEXTBIO states: The lead sentence should describe the person as they are commonly described in reliable sources. The noteworthy position(s) or role(s) the person held should usually be stated in the opening paragraph. Rumi Shishido's official website also lists that she's a camera(wo)man and an illustrator but because she has not released any notable works under that role, we do not list her as such. lullabying (talk) 17:31, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

External Links
editHi! I really appreciate all the work you do around anime articles, one really minor thing I noticed today though was when removing the external social links for the Sally Amaki article you put in the edit summary that it was per WP:SOCIALMEDIA which actually has nothing to do with the external links but is in reference to verifiability. I think WP:LINKSTOAVOID specifically point 10 is the reason to remove them from external links and is better to put as the 'per' reason. I can imagine some editors might try to WP:LAWYER if they read the contents of WP:SOCIALMEDIA which has nothing to do with external links. --Jeanjung212 (talk) 22:38, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Jeanjung212: Thanks for the heads up. I'll put this into my bookmarks to use as reference for next time. lullabying (talk) 23:04, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

Thread no. 2
edit1. So, this is about the last Thread we talked before... It really will/would not get too long just to put them. The same case happened in List of Aikatsu! characters, where someone already removed the dub actors in other languages without full detail (other than just because they are not necessary). I already wrote a notice on their talk page.
2. I noticed your comment on Kirarin Revolution page:
They were only active for 3 months, but I get your point on when their disbandment took place as being unclear. Notability as a band is not being disputed -- the article overlaps with Kirarin Revolution and the group itself isn't independent outside of the show. You can also say the same thing with Ships (band). Their singles charted but there is barely any information about them aside from them being created for Kirarin Revolution. Other similar examples include Love Live! and The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, where the voice cast do hold concerts as the characters they portray, and their singles chart as well, but their band presence alone depends on the show and they are not independent from the show as a band (and there's even more information on them than there is for Kirapika) -- context about the group depends heavily on the main series they are from, causing an overlap in articles.
Could Iris (Japanese band) be the same case? They were just created for Pripara series.CuteDolphin712 (talk) 07:27, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- Kira Pika was a tie-in band where the actors performed as their characters in real life, just to promote their series. Iris is not the same case -- they just performed the theme songs. Iris is more like Shugo Chara Egg! and Guardians 4. Kira Pika is more like Queen & Elizabeth or Hannah Montana. lullabying (talk) 07:49, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
1. What about Prizmmy?
2. What does BLP trivia mean, and why the profiles are removed from group articles? For the definition, I looked into WP:BLP nothing.
3. Hannah Montana focuses on the TV series.
CuteDolphin712 (talk) 13:34, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
- Prizmmy was not based on any character -- the characters were based on them. We are discussing if the actors released music as their characters -- which they didn't.
- Please read WP:MUSICBIO: The very bottom says: Note that members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases. Singers and musicians who are only notable for participating in a reality television series may be redirected to an article about the series, until they have demonstrated that they are independently notable. Saki Yamakita, the article you're trying to restore is not individually notable -- she has no leading voice acting roles and she has no solo music releases.
- This article is an example of a fictional character, albeit a pretty bad one. lullabying (talk) 20:18, 23 November 2019 (UTC)

editHi Lullabying,
Just restructured you article you may want "subheading 1" saying stuff along the lines of early works to prominence, voice acting breakthrough, continuous career to musical breakthrough, subsequent success...
You seem like a serious editor so I presume you are reusing the same citation at another point in the article, which it fine.
Also when he reprises/return/revisits the role below. Put them in their according year. Finally in 2009, his notable roles is a tokusatsu character named Ultraman Zero, the son of Ultraseven who first made his debut in the movie Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend The Movie before starring in subsequent movies Ultraman Zero: The Revenge of Belial and Ultraman Saga. Lacking a series of his own, Zero continued to appear as the main host of Ultraman Retsuden/Shin Ultraman Retsuden and in subsequent Ultra Series entries, with the recent being Ultraman Zero: The Chronicle in 2017.

I'm currently not a main contributor to the article but I imagine your advice would be helpful for those who might be interested in helping fixing it up. (On the topic of that, I also don't understand why tokusatsu is its own category... tokusatsu is a filming technique that basically means "special effects" in a live-action television series.) lullabying (talk) 03:34, 30 December 2019 (UTC)

Nu'est discography
editGood day. Am planning to add the Nu'est W discography in the Nu'est discography page. If I'm not mistaken, Nu'est W basically consists of all the members except only Minhyun who cannot promote with them at the time as he was part of Wanna One. However, as you were the one who created those pages, just wanted to know first if you oppose or if there are substantial reasons for not merging the two discographies. Thank you! Nate0721 (talk) 04:13, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Nate0721: I didn't create the pages, only Q is and Happily Ever After (EP). There was a discussion about this on Talk:NU'EST, but editors were able to expand NU'EST W to be its own article. I think the pages are fine as they are right now. lullabying (talk) 09:15, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
Hmm on hindsight, I really shouldn't have used the term "merge". I only meant adding nuest w songs in the nu'est discography page without in any way touching the nu'est w page. Thank you for the link. Have read the discussion but it doesn't squarely answer my inquiry though. Am just gonna open the topic then in the nu'est discography talk page and proceed from there. Thanks! Nate0721 (talk) 10:33, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Nate0721: Discography for NU'EST W is already listed on their article. There is no need to bring it to NU'EST discography as one is a subgroup of another. lullabying (talk) 11:04, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

Ribon manga
editRecently, you removed other countries' licensing info on manga pages, especially on Love-Berrish! and Chocolate Cosmos. They are NOT fan-made according to Anime News Network, somewhat reliably sourced, and I know everything about WP:FAN. I didn't mean to be curt or anything, but we already talked about this before... many times! If the same thing happen in the future, I would only say that contents in other languages are considered unofficial -- they're just translated by fans outside Japan. It's like the unofficial English translation in Japan-only games such as Tomodachi Collection. CuteDolphin712 (talk) 18:01, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: We only talked about this once or twice and it was in brief passing. I don't understand what you're trying to tell me? Of course fan translations should be removed. For other countries' licensing information, they should only be kept as a brief mention or not mentioned at all because of WP:UNDUE and WP:FAN. Official English translations get the highest priority as this is the English Wikipedia and would be the most relevant information to general readers of this encyclopedia. I don't understand what you're trying to get at. lullabying (talk) 18:51, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
1. Could that be the same as you un-did my edit on Charlie & Lola?
2. What is a "brief mention"?
3. Members have their individual articles and their birth-dates shouldn't be listed on the group article. What about national sports team articles? All pages list birth-dates and club the players are affiliated. CuteDolphin712 (talk) 18:54, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: We talked about it once and another time here through edit summaries. Exaggerating this seems kind of hostile to me, but that's not my point. Sports and music have their own WikiProjects and handle their members lists differently. lullabying (talk) 19:12, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
Regarding my edits
editI'm notifying that you keep undoing my edits recently, especally at Chūgakusei Nikki and Waiting for Spring (manga). That was a reliable source, as you did in Coffee & Vanilla. I could remove the word there if possible. Like I said before, you can easily find them yourself.
WPMUSICBIO: Note that members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases. If one of the members left the group and got a new job outside singing, does it still count independent notability? What are individual notability besides being solo singer? CuteDolphin712 (talk) 12:20, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- Chūgakusei Nikki and Waiting for Spring had sources that had nothing to do with each other. If a member of any group has their own solo career, i.e. releasing any charting music, being cast in lead roles, or being known for anything outside of the group, then that person can get their own individual article. lullabying (talk) 19:46, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

editIdol is not a specific occupation; use singer instead
"Idol" is fine. What so wrong with that? CuteDolphin712 (talk) 16:32, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
- Because it is what it is -- "idol" can mean many things, such as singer, model, actress. "Idol" is only a marketing label to categorize what kind of entertainers they are and the audience they marketed towards instead of actually defining what they do. lullabying (talk) 16:46, 18 March 2020 (UTC)

About Given (Manga)
editGood morning. I hope you're all right.
I've read comments from people who are confused since in Wikipedia (a reliable encyclopedia) they have read that Given is of the yaoi genre, when it really isn't.
Given has no explicit sexual content, therefore, it's shōnen-ai.
Go to this link: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/this-week-in-anime/2019-08-13/.149995
It is the same one they have used as a reference to determine that Given is "yaoi". When you are on the page, click on the words boys love in the first paragraph. You will be redirected to the concept that Anime News Network handles. Isn't shōnen-ai?
The term is not outdated, as many professional and official publications use it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2800:4F0:521:5C40:4C48:ECBF:3654:B9F3 (talk) 15:02, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- A discussion has been opened for this specific topic at Talk:Given (manga)#Genre, so I recommend you take your comments there for all active editors to assess your viewpoint. WP:ANIME/RS specifically states that reports and reviews are valid sources, but because the encyclopedia can be edited by anyone registered on their forums, information from the encyclopedia cannot be used.
- Your edit summary asks if I used Google Translate for Natsuki Kizu's website. No, I know Japanese and searched using the term 少年愛. If you looked through Yaoi or even the Japanese Wikipedia page for shōnen-ai, you would know that it's an outdated term used from the 1970s to early 1990s originating from shojo manga and associated with something like Moto Hagio's works.
- In Japan, the modern term used for "yaoi" is BL (boys' love), which encompasses both sexual AND non-sexual works provided that they are published in a magazine catering to a fujoshi demographic. "Shōnen-ai" is only part of the boys' love category. "Shōnen-ai" literally means pederasty, not boys' love, even though it started the boys' love movement. I'm going to assume you know Japanese too in case you don't need me to explain that different combinations of Japanese characters may have different meanings... they're not one-to-one translations.
- The reason why we use yaoi is because of WP:CONSENSUS from the page's editors at Talk:Yaoi#Requested move 9 August 2018, because per WP:COMMONNAME "yaoi" sees way more use in the English-speaking world than "boys' love." If you would like to rename the article, go ahead and start a new discussion for it, but as of now, it is what it is.
- Final note: Given actually does have sexual content in the later chapters, so I'm not sure where you're going with it not being sexual. lullabying (talk) 22:01, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Given has sexual content that does not become explicit. I don't remember ever seeing a penis dripping with semen or someone being penetrated without any concealment.
- The Akihiko and Haruki scene doesn't even come close to being NSFW. It's mature. If you want, don't answer anymore. I won't waste your time anymore. Most likely I won't remember this tomorrow.
Autopatrolled granted
editHi Lullabying, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Chetsford (talk) 21:28, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
SuBLime
editDo you have a source for SuBLime no longer being affiliated with Animate? The SuBLime website still lists the publisher as "a partnership between VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), the largest distributor and licensor of anime and manga in North America, and Japan’s Animate, Ltd. (Animate)." Morgan695 (talk) 23:09, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Morgan695: Viz Media mentioned at their Q&A session during FujoCon over the weekend; they stated that they were only partnered with Animate for the first three years after SuBLime's launch. Unfortunately, since it's on a Discord channel, I can't link it to you, but I can give you a screenshot. I put the citation needed tag on Viz Media's article since it's important to note but there isn't a reliable source available yet. lullabying (talk) 23:18, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think changes should be made until a reliable source can be found substantiating that, given that the official website states that they're still affiliated. Morgan695 (talk) 23:37, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Morgan695: Sure, but I would just rather leave Animate out of this, as just leaving it as Viz Media is still technically correct. However, I do not believe Viz Media would report this information with the news and will only state so during events (which usually are not documented). lullabying (talk) 23:44, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- I guess that's fine. Maybe send a tip to Anime News Network, and maybe they'll run a story? Morgan695 (talk) 00:40, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- Sure thing, I just did that. lullabying (talk) 02:32, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

Hello, and sorry I did not start a discussion about this, but just in case, how could I expand this draft, or merge it to another article? Thanks. F. E. Puricelli (talk) 04:48, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- @F. E. Puricelli: Hey there, don't worry about not starting a discussion -- I did it for you already. I took a look at this draft and it mostly copies information and sources from the original List of Digimon Adventure characters article. It cannot stand as its own article in the state that it is now, especially since it's repeating information. Frankly I do not even see why there's a need for a new article when List of Digimon Adventure characters already exists. The characters are the same, just in a different continuity, and any "new" backstory has already been covered by Digimon Adventure (2020 TV series). Furthermore, I would also get rid of the tables -- while I did put them there in the first place, my views have changed and I agree it is mostly WP:FAN. I also do not agree with grouping the human characters with the Digimon, but that is a different story altogether. lullabying (talk) 05:22, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

MapleSoy (talk) 15:55, 3 August 2020 (UTC)Wanted to touch base regarding children/family/whatever genre. Absolutely agree with your comment; I'm currently stumped as to addressing the "children" genre thing - I've seen this on several articles and don't have a good work-around. To clarify, this is apparently caused by Children's anime and manga being categorized as a demographic which triggers the flag listed under . I suppose the real issue is that there isn't a definitive list of genres in the first place: the few listed over on anime portal are certainly not definitive. I'm looking for a better solution; I don't like the idea of removing valid information to satisfy the back-end processor. Anyway, if you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Lawaspirant5580 (talk) 16:56, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Lawaspirant5580: I would just look for reliable sources that state applicable genres for the article. lullabying (talk) 22:04, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
Hoshimachi Suisei
editHi. I've taken it upon myself to clean up the recently-created article on Hoshimachi Suisei, a Virtual YouTuber and idol managed by Hololive, and was directed to you to ask for guidance with the article because of your experience with idols. Think you can help me out? –♠Vami_IV†♠ 07:18, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Vami IV: Hey there, I'm honored you decided to seek me for assistance. I took a look at the article and will make a couple of edits, but since I would have to know a lot about the subject to help, there may be some gaps in information. One big thing that pops out to me is that she is a fictional character and the article should not describe her as if she were a real-life person. You should try finding information about who her character designer was and what went into creating the design. Another thing is that you're listing mostly primary sources (see WP:PRIMARYSOURCES) which may cause your article to lack notability. You should also use a wikitable to list her appearances. Another thing is that you also need to discuss critical reception (like, actual documented popularity and what critics have said about her) primarily because she is a fictional character. Kizuna Ai is a good model to use for articles like these. lullabying (talk) 08:45, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hello. Thank you for improving the article. To improve the article further, I have a question. I think VTubers can be interpreted as not only a character but also a real person with the anime avatar. I replaced the character infobox with Youtuber infobox (before I found this talk section, sorry) because Suisei has her Youtube channel, streams playing games and got the silver shield like other "real" YouTuber. There are also many professional illustrators streaming with 2D avatar made by themselves like Ui Shigure. I do think they should be depicted as (sort of fictional) character and their activity should be counted as real in the article. How do you think about my opinion?--Sacchisachi (talk) 15:15, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

About MOS:JAPAN and related topics
edit- MOS:JAPAN#Titles of media: MOS states that stylizations to song titles should not be used in article, such as all capital letters (unless they are acronyms) and lowercase letters. Other than it, I don't really understand why they are removed from English titles whereas many English reliable sources use them. They look pretty bad to me. I think the lack of symbols is just bordering WP:FAN.
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Titles#Typographic effects: Because of that, can you rename Girls² article to Girls2?
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Anime and manga. I looked History of Free (TV series). It was renamed from Free (anime) to Free (TV series). I could only say "Anime is not a specific media; use TV series".CuteDolphin712 (talk) 17:49, 6 September 2020 (UTC)

ORβIT
editHello! Thank you so much for creating a page for ORβIT. Yesterday, I edited the page, but it looks like most of the changes have been reverted. I'm relatively new to editing on wikipedia and have been looking at other groups' pages as reference, so I do have a couple questions if you have the time!
- According to MOS:Trademarks, stylized names are allowed if a name is always written in that form. Many other groups also use all caps within their pages such as UP10TION, AB6IX, BTS, NU'EST, etc. I can't find any precedence to using Greek letters in titles, so I'd understand not using the B and simply stylizing the name as ORBIT.
- The Japanese and the Korean name of the group should be included in the lead paragraph.
- The member names are interesting as they still largely use their legal names, but are often referred to by a stylized version of the name (e.g., Uehara Jun/June). I believe a manual of style may state to just use the stage names instead. I do see groups such as Exile and Da-ice use a table to list their members. However, I can't seem to find this used in a primarily K-pop group though. Do you have any suggestions for this?
- For the history section, I believe the previous pre-debut section was effective for summarizing the history of each of the members in a chronological order and contained no promotional content. I did feel that the debut section could have been better written and may take another stab at it later.
Please let me know what I can do to help! Itsdaletos (talk) 23:52, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Itsdaletos: WP:MOSTM states: Avoid using special characters that are not pronounced, are included purely for decoration, or simply substitute for English words or letters (e.g., "♥" used for "love", "!" used for "i") or for normal punctuation, unless a significant majority of reliable sources that are independent of the subject consistently include the special character in the subject's name. Similarly, avoid special stylization, such as superscripting or boldface, in an attempt to emulate a trademark. (See also Wikipedia:Article titles § Special characters.) Therefore we are using "Orbit." Also, per MOS:JAPAN, Japanese names must be listed in Western order (i.e. Jun Uehara instead of Uehara Jun). I discourage using tables to list the members -- the most band/group articles do not list tables and it's only the J-pop articles that have been doing this due to their pages only being edited by hardcore fans (due to J-pop not being as widespread as the West). For the pre-debut section, I decided to keep it short because it doesn't need a long history. HALO's activities should be listed on their own article, and information about the premise of Produce 101 Japan doesn't belong on the page. lullabying (talk) 01:01, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- Also, to add, the reason why the articles you listed are in capitals is because they're acronyms. Per MOS, unless "Orbit" stands for something, we do not put it in capitals. lullabying (talk) 01:02, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Lullabying: Thank you for your reply! Ah yes, I see that part about the acronyms now, thank you for bringing that to my attention. I do agree that the pre-debut section should be kept short, but it should also be long enough to inform readers of their history prior to debut. I will revise my edit so that it's sufficient information, but direct then! Another question I had was when would be appropriate to remove the orphan tag from the page? I see that you already linked it in Produce 101 Japan and I believe it can be added to Orbit (disambiguation). Itsdaletos (talk) 01:31, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Itsdaletos: Yeah, go ahead and link it on the disambiguation page. lullabying (talk) 21:37, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

editHello, regarding your last contribution on this page, I know that the title of episode 6 is already in english but the original title use different stylization than the english one as can be seen on the official anime website here, so I don't see what's the harm in just annotating it? Also, the english title of episode 5 uses an hyphen between Love and Spring as can be seen on the official funimation website here, why would you use a colon? 2A04:CEC0:11E5:FA2A:3776:D3FD:87CA:D940 (talk) 16:52, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- I don't believe minor capitalization changes warrant being included especially since the titles are the same. lullabying (talk) 16:55, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- What do you mean? It has nothing to do with capitalization here, the japanese title has a space right before the exclamation mark, why do you think this must not be precised in a footnote? Isn't it a different stylization? And what about the colon you used instead of the hyphen used on the official english title of episode 5? Is there a reason for that? 2A04:CEC0:1184:EBC5:5C09:8B13:AF30:981E (talk) 01:28, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- You can leave the hyphen in as Funimation listed it with that. However, whether there is a space before the exclamation mark literally makes no difference and I certainly do not believe it's a stylization. lullabying (talk) 01:34, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- Ok and should we really go with what you "certainly don't believe"? Is there any type of convention or guideline that agrees with your statement? Otherwise it feels like you are removing it just because you don't like it. The originial title is clearly different from the english one, and I don't see why this difference should not be noted. 2A04:CEC0:11FA:F597:D655:C13B:67C8:53BB (talk) 02:44, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- The closest I can find is MOS:JAPAN#Titles of media but I have asked for input at WP:ANIME. lullabying (talk) 03:09, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Expanding Classmates (manga)
editI thought I'd reach out and ask if you were aware of any (likely Japanese-language) sources concerning the production and development of Classmates (manga). I've had the article nominated for GA since July, and while I think it's fine enough in its current state to scrape past the basic requirements for promotion, I think the article would benefit from some expansion in regards to background on the creation of the series, interviews about the series with Asumiko Nakamura, etc. This is a no-pressure ask (I don't expect you to go out hunting for sources), I just figured I'd ask if you had come across anything in your research for other BL-related topics. Thanks! Morgan695 (talk) 05:42, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Morgan695: Hey, there. I found a couple of interviews Asumiko Nakamura did, but they were about her other works. However, I did not read through them closely, so maybe you'll find something about Classmates there. Here are several links I found: 1 2. Here's a review about Blanc. If you don't mind spending some money, this issue of Opera seems to have a feature on the film. lullabying (talk) 07:11, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- Would you be interested/able to translate the Opera interview if I bought the issue? Looks like a digital copy on Chil Chil is only about eight bucks. It wouldn't have to be a line-for-line translation, just excerpts of the passages that would be most relevant to the article. It looks like the first few pages of the interview are excerpted here, which might give a sense as to whether the interview is substantive enough to be worth buying/translating. Morgan695 (talk) 16:13, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

- Okay, uploaded here: https://imgur.com/a/vWCmcvd. The final image is a postscript that appears after the comic; not sure if it's relevant but I included it anyways. - Also, are you still working on Ossan's Love in my sandbox, or is it ready to be moved to the mainspace? Morgan695 (talk) 06:36, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Morgan695: It's not ready yet! Since it's a popular series, there's so much information to compile, and I haven't even listed the episodes for the second season yet. The annoying part is finding sources. If you want to move it to mainspace now, it looks good enough despite missing some information. lullabying (talk) 07:18, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

Removing genres not sourced
editHey, I'm here again to notice your recent contributions that you removed genres of TV series. It's good to remove them anyway, though, because from what I've observed, there are no sources stating that it's a magical girl show. Why genres need to be sourced? I can't see the reason on any page. Like before, I recommend you discuss in WP:JAPAN and/or WP:ANIME, like you did when you removed unsourced manga magazines.
For stylization per MOS:JAPAN, why would people add them anyway? Then, do "colors" (or anything related to WP:FAN) on member section cause "edit war"?CuteDolphin712 (talk) 09:15, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: Please ask Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan about the stylization questions. We have already discussed member colors -- it's WP:PROMO and WP:FAN. Improper Attitude towards an editor
editI recently tried to add what I thought was a legitimate citation to the Free! TV Series article. Wikipedia refused to post it as such saying the site was disallowed without further explanation. In trying to accommodate, I listed what could be listed to provide information to a reader. You removed the link with the comment, "The link isn't even sourced properly." The attitude behind the comment feels snarky and disrepectful to me, unbecoming to a Wikipedia user. A non-judmental comment referring to Wikipedia's policy re: disallowed sites would have been proper. I am, therefore, requesting that the comment be removed. Ouranista (talk) 16:33, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Ouranista: Hello, the comment was not intended to be snarky. What I meant by that is that you had to have a direct link. I visited the link you provided and all I saw was the main page, and that would make the source unclear. If the website is blocked, then you need to either not link it at all or ask for it to be unblocked at MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist. I do not have permissions to remove edit summaries. lullabying (talk) 20:13, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Issue with Your Edits
editYou cotinuely edit Lead articles by taking away relevant information. It was already confirmed that birthdays on members are relevant on the official page if individual articles do not exist. You continued to remove that information.
Now you are removing information that is relevant based on the proposition that it is "only relevant to the individual members and not the group", despite being done while the members were in the group and none of the members having individual pages.
Your edits are considered harassment due to this constant issue. Either create the articles for the individual members or keep the information where it belongs. I'm currently working on member pages, which requires more effort due to it being considered a biograohy. Until then, the information is where it should be. Thanks. Xenobia4 (talk) 00:36, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Xenobia4: Hi, I have already discussed this with you before. What confirmation did you receive stating that birthdays are relevant if the official page articles exist? According to discussions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Korea/Popular culture/Archive 3#Members sections, as well as previous discussions on my very talk page, I have been told that birthdays are not notable on group articles. (@Drmies: can you help explain?) Furthermore, I don't think it's wrong to remove information about the group members' solo activities especially since they are irrelevant to the group. It looks like the group members are individually notable enough to have their own articles so ideally they should be there instead. But this sort of information does not belong on their group article. There's also information such as this which is seen as highly promotional and irrelevant to the group's acitivities. lullabying (talk) 02:43, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- Xenobia4, false claims of harassment are disruptive and blockable. Information needs to be well-verified by independent sources, which in K-pop/J-pop/M-pop are sometimes hard to come by. Frequently that information comes from the record company, which of course has an interest in having their member be as young as possible. So no, and I would urge you not to write up pages for people who aren't notable outside of the group they're in. Drmies (talk) 02:52, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'm receiving mixed messages. One of you says to create member articles and the other says not to. If not, then their solo activities need to remain in the group article.Xenobia4 (talk) 10:14, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Xenobia4: No, the solo activities do not belong in the group article because the group article is supposed to discuss their activities as a group. Drmies only recommends not writing up pages for members who aren't notable outside of the group. You can create articles for individual members provided they pass WP:NBIO. If they have notable credits such as several lead acting roles or charting solo albums that are not affiliated with their group, that would be sufficient for WP:NMUSIC or WP:GNG. lullabying (talk) 11:02, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- lullabying, yes, thank you. Drmies (talk) 14:00, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

Then can you give notice and time before just removing the information? Because if the individual members pages don't exist, then what they do solo, but while part of the group, is relevant. Namely with Hiroki, who stopped all activity after leaving the group. I've revived the entire page (and had all of their connecting pages created and approved). So you can clearly understand when, out of nowhere, one person is reverting and denying all of the research comes off as targeting.
I still hold up my original point: Until pages are created for each member, the information is relevant. I'm in the process of creating said pages, but by you going through and removing information en masse, it's taking 10x longer to track down the information that was already given, just needing to be moved over. Xenobia4 (talk) 00:22, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Xenobia4: No, I disagree. Individual solo activities are not relevant to the group's activities and are only incidental. One example I'll point out is how you had once added Pink no Idenshi to Lead's navigational template when only one member was involved in the show as a cast member. You can still salvage information from the edit history and draft the article in your sandbox before launching it live. lullabying (talk) 00:41, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
But according to the person you brought on, they said the members would not be notable for individual pages. Therefore, if that's the case, their solo activity is relevant in the main article. Even the mentioned Pink no Idenshi page wouldn't exist had I not have started the creation due to Hiroki's involvement.
So am I approved to create member articles or not? If so, I'll continue working on them (and I still ask you stop removing information until I can get the pages approved and running). I need to know if my hundreds of hours of research is worth it or not. Xenobia4 (talk) 22:54, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Xenobia4: No. Drmies was stating if the members have no notability outside of the group, then you shouldn't make articles for them. However, if they are, then that's fine. Notability can be established by WP:GNG and WP:NBIO; an easy way to determine notability is if the person was cast in lead roles in solo acting projects or had a solo album appear on national charts. Regardless, individual activities are irrelevant to the group's activities and I suggest not re-adding that information. If you still want to dispute that, I recommend you discuss at Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians or Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan. My point still stands. lullabying (talk) 23:21, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Here's an example: Momoko Tsugunaga and Maiha Ishimura are members of Berryz Kobo. Maiha Ishimura got merged to Berryz Kobo because her only notability was being a member of the group which would mean most of her activities would just be parroting the main Berryz Kobo article. On the other hand, Momoko Tsugunaga was a regular panelist on several variety shows, had charting solo DVD and album releases, so she is notable enough to have her own article. lullabying (talk) 23:29, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Xenobia4, I can't help but wonder about these hundreds of hours of research. Surely this only takes a few minutes. And the last time you made that edit all you had to do was copy it from the history. And in general, the material in that article is just really low-grade--"Prior to Nakadoi's final decision, the other members questioned if they should remain as a unit if Nakadoii decided to leave. When Nakadoi finalized his decision, with full support to the others as a group, they chose to stay together due to the constant support of their fans". That's just fan chatter, and the source is the group's blog. So I cannot say I'm impressed with the quality of the article or of your arguments, and I cannot find fault with any of Lullabying's edits. Drmies (talk) 23:58, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Then perhaps you should take into account the hundreds of hours it takes to research every little thing to make sure it's accurate to warrant a source in an article. I have. I'll find one source and spend hours making sure that source is legit and meets wiki guidelines. I've been doing this for over a decade.
If you question it, then spend the time I have resourcing it to ensure it meets criteria. When I spend days/weeks/months on an article, it's because I'm researching every source. What sources say, what fans say, what the general public says - I don't throw together articles all willy nilly. I do research. A LOT of research. So yes. I will spend HOURS ensuring one source is legit. To make sure it's been covered by other sources. Xenobia4 (talk) 01:31, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Xenobia4: I don't doubt that you're putting a lot of effort in, but it's important to keep in mind on what is considered encyclopedic information here. It's highly discouraged to include "what fans say" on Wikipedia because it's considered WP:FAN and not encyclopedic. I recommend posting those sorts of commends at the Fandom Wiki instead. My comment still stands on individual solo activities not being listed on the group articles, and that individual member articles can be written provided you have found sources that they are well known outside of the context of their group (see my examples of Momoko Tsugunaga and Maiha Ishimura above). lullabying (talk) 02:43, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
Then could at least give me 30 days to collect all the "individual" information and get them into draft pages for the members while I continue to work on them? I don't want to have to spend days/weeks getting information I've already retrieved once. Xenobia4 (talk) 20:07, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Xenobia4: You can salvage information from the edit history by going to "View history" next to the "Edit" tab and click on a past version of the page. lullabying (talk) 22:05, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Name order
editWhy should Japanese names be in Western order per MOS:JAPAN? Is it because most reliable sources use the order or something? CuteDolphin712 (talk) 06:31, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- @CuteDolphin712: Japan used Western name order in non-Asian publications since the 1870s. In 2019, Shinzo Abe tried to change it back to Japanese name order but it has not caught on internationally yet. This was brought up at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan/Archive/September 2019#Japanese name order and no one in WP:JAPAN has agreed to stick to the Japanese name order yet. lullabying (talk) 06:58, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Requesting Help
editI've noticed that since we both appear to be adamant about fixing Lead-related pages, why not a team up? I've been trying to fix the main page to be suitable for GA status for a while, but time isn't something I have a lot of.
I could use someone like you helping me out to get the page up to par. I've fixed a lot of the issues over the years (finding appropriate sources, making sure information is factual and not based on fan speculation, etc.). Last time I attempted to nominate it (2018), it came down to sources listed prior to when I took the page under my wing (most information before Hiroki Nakadoi left the group in 2013) needing revisions or sources in general. Some of the sources prior to 2013, I don't know which are good or which are bad (sans some fansites I had to delete the sources for due to the biases).
I'd really appreciate it if we could work on this together! Thank you! Xenobia4 (talk) 21:54, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

Do we need the rating in Spy × Family episodes page?
editThe page link.
Some of my reasoning:
- The rating is only in the Kanto area ("Tokyo area") and not even entire Japan.
- Also, some data is missing because the TV rating site only cover up to 10 first spot, so some week, we did not have rating for the Spy × Family series (it will be missing, forever, no way to know about it).
- The site also clear the date every week and we rely too much on Anime News Networks site for rating report, so if one week they stop doing that or forget doing that, we won't have the data we need.
- Do we actually need this part? It serves almost no purpose.
- Theodorethebear (talk) 13:03, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
- The television rankings website usually reflects only Kanto and Kansai; this is true for a lot of Japanese dramas. It doesn't hurt to add this information. lullabying (talk) 17:02, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
I think it is not about "it doesn't hurt to add tbis information" but the reasons I losted out above. The information is incomplete and will be incomplete in the future. The information is only relevant to only Kanto area (and not even the wholr Japan), and we rely on ANN to update the info for us from a site that refresh every week and purge all kf the data from last week.
In short, the info is unreliable. I suggest we remove it because literally it is completely useless info. I don't think "It doesn't hurt" is a good reasoning. Theodorethebear (talk) 03:21, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- You can try archiving the results on the week that they are supposed to show up. As for regional rankings, the only reason why Kanto rankings are counted is because the show's major networks are originally located in Tokyo. lullabying (talk) 03:38, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
If you insist to keep up with that, then I guess you will update the rating then. But I already told you, the information is incomplete. For example: there is no rating for the series in week 3 and week 4. The Japanese site didn't have it either because they only posted top 10. The info existed but it has never been posted on the internet and will never be updated. But like I said, if you insist to keep up with the incomplete info then it is what it is. Theodorethebear (talk) 03:51, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
Concern about what you said
editWell in the page List of Spy × Family episodes, you mentioned that "the episode summaries on this page are bit too flowery and are too detailed so it may violate WP:FLOWERY and WP:FAN". I checked and 95% are accurate and concise within the plot point, except for some minor details that I will fix soon. But if you called it out like that, it must mean you perceived differently. Can you give some examples? - Theodorethebear (talk) 15:50, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Theodorethebear: There's a lot of extra fluff that could be easily cut out in those summaries, including extra adjectives and some transitional phrases. Look at List of RWBY episodes, where a lot of the extra wording was cut back to 100 to 150 words. lullabying (talk) 02:22, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- That was why I asked you for examples in the page List of Spy × Family episodes before I edited it. You said the page has problems, then you must have some examples in your mind. To be honest, most of the summaries stay exactly as it happens in the episode, that is why I don't share your opinion. I need to know what you think it is wrong before I edited it out. I don't want to cut important contents if I don't have to. Theodorethebear (talk) 04:16, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- I did some editing on List of Spy × Family episodes for the first few episodes; this will give you an idea on what should be reworded or removed. lullabying (talk) 04:18, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- Sure, let me check. There is only one point in your ep 1's edit is unnecessary (Karen, because her presence there is too minor to be even mentioned). I will replace it and check the rest out. One more question: is there any constraint to provide summaries for comic books/manga? - Theodorethebear (talk) 04:23, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- Yor edits are actually good and on point by the way. It is way sophisticated than I am able to do. - Theodorethebear (talk) 04:29, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry for accidentally revert your edit. I did not even realize it. I backed it up. - Theodorethebear (talk) 05:09, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

@Lullabying: Just leave this here though, in case you come to see this: "At home, Loid is certain that they have failed the interview, but even Yor and Anya's reassurance." is really weird though. In the end, he accept to leave everything to fate, and wait for the result with them. This sentence is not correct with the plot though. I rather add something at the end so it is not like he is certain everything is doomed. But I don't want edit conflict, so you have any idea to put the part "leave the rest to luck" in?- Theodorethebear (talk) 05:20, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hmm, I just feel like that's an extra detail based on one or two lines of dialogue from the episode. lullabying (talk) 06:52, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- That was a really strong moment in the end of that episode and (biased opinion from me) they share a positive moment. Loid was permissive about the result but in the end became more possitive. That is why I want to end it with a more possitive nod. But I understand if it is not ok. Well, biased opinion is not ok. But the fact that he changed his mind and accept that not even the best spy cannot depend on luck.
- I fixed that part now so it is neutral about the event. You can check if it is ok or not.
- Thanks for the great edits. -Theodorethebear (talk) 07:05, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

KStyle source
editI wanted to know if Kstyle would be reliable to use? The BTS article is going through a FAC as of now, and it's listed as one of the sources that needs verification as a reliable source. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 19:17, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- KStyle is owned by Line Corporation, which has a big presence in Japan. The website is a news aggregator that publishes original articles but also translates from major Korean news sources (like Osen) into Japanese. Take that information as you will. lullabying (talk) 20:00, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mike Chen until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.
XG
editIf you don't mind, could you look over this article? XG (group) Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 02:50, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Btspurplegalaxy: Some comments: Arama! Japan is a gossip blog and should only be used for their interviews. (They originated as an offshoot of Oh No They Didn't on Livejournal with a focus on J-pop; they were originally called Arama They Didn't). The "name" section has a lot of wording that would make it WP:PROMOTIONAL. Too many of the sources are YouTube videos from their primary channel. lullabying (talk) 01:29, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Lullabying: Hello, nice to meet you! I found that you have added the "better source needed" template in XG article. Like XG, I saw the Arama! Japan reference used in Max Matsuura#Controversies as well. Should I remove the Arama! Japan reference from not only XG but also Matsuura articles? --Hatto (talk) 04:40, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- I think the source should definitely be replaced if a more reliable source is available. As for Max Matsuura, that whole sentence should be removed altogether, as the "XG" controversy isn't really notable. lullabying (talk) 04:48, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Lullabying: Hmmm, I can't find a better reference for XG, at least not from me. Matsuura's article, where the same Arama! Japan reference is used for XG, refers to his gaffe (He is also known for his penchant for gaffes and caused controversy when he said of XG's producer Simon Jakops, who debuted in 2022, "I worked with a K-pop producer (Jakops), but that I was just using him.") to the XG producer, do you think that gaffe should be removed? --Hatto (talk) 05:00, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- If there is no reliable source to back up his "penchant for gaffes" then it's not notable and not worth mentioning. The whole issue doesn't seem like it's worth mentioning either. lullabying (talk) 05:33, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

Regarding 22/7 edit
editI've seen that you moved 22/7 game info into the anime page, which I believe is incorrect. 22/7 is mixed-media idol project, and the anime should not the main entry. The idol -> 2016, the anime -> 2020. Anything that's not the anime should present in idol entry instead. The logic is that the game is based on idol, not the anime. I suggest the change to reflect Japanese entry of 22/7 (https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/22/7_(%E3%82%A2%E3%82%A4%E3%83%89%E3%83%AB)). User:Christian Elbrianno 11:00, 11 July 2022 (WIB)
- @Christian Elbrianno: The main 22/7 page should focus on activities of the real-life girl group while anything related to their anime counterparts should be on the anime page. The anime section was originally on the main page before it was split off. We also do not have to follow how the Japanese Wikipedia formats their pages. lullabying (talk) 04:44, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Mike Chen), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. The Anime Man Dual Citizen
editI was watching a recent video from Joey and he mentions that he does indeed have Japanese Citizenship and a passport (jump to 9:15). This is related to edits on July 17th when you removed dual nationality because no source was given at the time, well this is a direct source. Is that acceptable to add back the dual-citizenship information? --WashuOtaku (talk) 00:32, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- You need a secondary source to confirm this, as him just casually mentioning this in a YouTube channel is a primary source. Moreover, the article Japanese Australian indicates an Australian person of Japanese descent, and per MOS:ETHNICITY, we are supposed to list the subject's nationality. Japan does not allow dual citizenship so until then I would go for "Australian-born Japanese YouTuber" or "Australia YouTuber." lullabying (talk) 00:47, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- Secondary sources regarding things like nationality are not common, but I am not going to ignore his statement either; he has no reason to lie about it. That said I rather list him as an Australian-born Japanese YouTuber and change his nationality to Japanese; for all I know he could have given-up his Australian citizenship. --WashuOtaku (talk) 02:03, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

TFA
editThank you today for gurl.com, about "a website aimed at female teenagers and young adults that was prominent in the 1990s and 2000s. Gurl.com was an influential part of 1990s Internet culture as one of the first online media and communities aimed at young girls. It was mostly known for being a peer resource for teen advice, containing honest discussions about sexuality, body positivity, and adolescence, back when female-oriented media, such as magazines, hardly addressed those issues. In addition, Gurl.com is also credited for Internet activity in girls from generation Y and has been a point of reference in academia regarding behavior of teenage girls on the Internet in the 2000s, such as the topics they discussed and the websites they would create. I started and brought this article to Good status in the past year. Particularly where Internet culture and technology is involved, media and communities aimed at women don't get discussed that often, especially since now most people have moved towards social media."! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:04, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Pretty Rhythm
editHello! I noticed you were interested in editing Pretty Series-related articles in the past. I was thinking maybe we can collaborate to cleanup Pretty Series-related articles (I've recently been removing a lot of WP:FANCRUFT in these articles). Shadow of the Starlit Sky (talk) 14:54, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hey, there, I cleaned up most of the Pretty Rhythm articles except for the character list. I was thinking of expanding PriPara and the other spinoffs to encompass the arcade games, but I'm not familiar with any of them so I don't think I'll be much help. Thanks for asking though. lullabying (talk) 08:21, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
No problem. I’m mostly interested in expanding PriPara, Kiratto Pri Chan and Waccha PriMagi articles though. And, I will continue to clean up the character lists as I think they are very fancruft-y as of now. Shadow of the Starlit Sky (talk) 12:13, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
Tokyo Revengers chapter titles
editHi, I recently reverted the edit on the Tokyo Revengers page regarding the chapter titles. What is the basis for them? Tokyo Revengers, including its derivative works, never have chapter titles written in Japanese because they are all inherently written in English, hence why all titles are the same upon the official English releases by Kodansha USA. The only exceptions thus far are the spelling errors in Chapter 153 (from "NocteKing" to "NoctoKing") and Chapter 175 (from "Adomonitions..." to "Admonitions"). Beyond that, there is no difference, so I am curious where these titles came from. Thanks! Antimarleyan (talk) 02:29, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

Koreans in Japan
edithello. I am writing this because I have something to say about editing related to Koreans in Japan. First of all, my native language is not English, so please understand that the context may be strange.
After Korea gained independence from Japan, Koreans in Japan lost their Japanese nationality due to the San Francisco Treaty, and in 1952, the Korean-Japanese government recognized Koreans in Japan as Korean citizens, not Japanese citizens.[7]
In 2010, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea announced that it would recognize Koreans in Japan as Koreans. In other words, Koreans living in Japan should be considered Koreans in Japan as special permanent residents, not Japanese.[8]
If you acquire Japanese nationality, you are a Japanese people of Korean descent, not a Korean in Japan. If a wise person among Koreans living in Japan later acquired Japanese nationality, an explanation and source regarding the acquisition of Japanese nationality, such as the Yoshihiro Akiyama document, is required. There is no news that the people I edited have acquired Japanese nationality, other than that they are Koreans living in Japan.
For reference, Korean Wikipedia distinguishes between ko:재일 한인 and ko:재일 한국인. I may be wrong, so please give me your opinion. Gksyy (talk) 06:53, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
- I think you should definitely bring this up to WP:JAPAN to discuss your changes. lullabying (talk) 01:35, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
- The related story is not a matter for discussion, but rather a fact, and it seems to be currently known to be incorrect.
- In 1945, Korea was liberated from Japan, and all Koreans lost their Japanese nationality due to the San Francisco Treaty. Among those people, those who could not return to Korea and remained in Japan became Koreans in Japan. On January 29, 1952, the Korean and Japanese governments discussed these issues, and the contents included '1. 'Both Korea and Japan recognize that Koreans living in Japan are citizens of the Republic of Korea and not of Japan.(1. 한일 양국은 재일한국인이 대한민국 국민이며 일본 국민이 아님을 승인한다.)'
- Also, since I live in Korea, when I look at articles about related celebrities, I often see articles such as Koreans in Japan saying that they are Koreans in Japan and have Korean nationality, but people mistake them for Japanese nationality.
- Koreans in Japan are special permanent residents active in Japan and their nationality is Korean. Because they are not Japanese citizens, there are restrictions on things like suffrage, which leads to social problems in Japan. If they acquire Japanese nationality, they are no longer Koreans in Japan, but Japanese people of Korean descent. There is no source at all for the article that some Koreans in Japan included people who became Japanese, and this story itself cannot be found in Korea.
- In the case of Sonim, even in the Japanese Wikipedia, he is listed as a Korean nationality, and no source or information about his Japanese nationality can be found.
- To summarize because the article is long, Koreans in Japan are a special case due to the Japanese colonial period.
- Most of these people were born and live in Japan, so they are misunderstood as Japanese, but in terms of nationality, they are Korean. Gksyy (talk) 13:20, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, you were the one who changed Sonim's nationality to Korean on the Japanese Wikipedia; it says so in the edit history. Like, I said, please bring this up to WP:JAPAN and WP:KOREA. lullabying (talk) 21:58, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
- Okay. But where exactly should I post it? Also, since you are the one who denied my editing, I am writing to you because I want to know the exact reason. You said that they had Japanese nationality, but I couldn't find any articles saying they were Japanese nationals. However, because these people may have acquired Japanese nationality without my knowledge, I asked you why they claimed to be Japanese nationals and why you reversed the edits I made.
- Also, Sonim's nationality in the infobox was set to be Korean, and I only modified the introduction to match what was explained in the infobox. I also told other people that this person's nationality is Korean, so the introductory part should also match it, and asked for their understanding.
- Thank you for your kind answer. I hope you are not confused by my poor English skills. thank you

Pretty Rhythm franchise
editThis might be outdated, but I saw your comment on Talk:List of Pretty Rhythm characters asking whether or not Prism Jumps should be included. Someone has removed them a long time ago on all three Pretty Rhythm character pages, which I believe they shouldn't because Prism Jumps are the important parts of the franchise and it centers on them. Otherwise, I'm okay with that unless those are properly sourced.

RE: Eve Japanese VA
editWhile I understand your reasoning, this is a bit of an exception because the Japanese voice acting for the game was emphasized as having full lip synch and subtitles alongside the Korean and English one, and moreso because it's oddly enough only available on the Japanese version of the game. I feel it's a weird enough distinction that mentioning it in this case won't hurt, and is in the same vein as how we approach the different voice actors for Genshin Impact characters. Kung Fu Man (talk) 02:33, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
- I am not really sure how having full lip synch and subtitles makes it notable enough to list the Japanese voice actress as well. lullabying (talk) 19:49, 10 July 2024 (UTC)

Regarding Japanese romanization, some words are also mistakenly translated. For instance,5つ is romanized as Itsutsu and not Mittsu, whereas the latter would be romanized as3つ and mean "three"

I reverted your edit
editHello @Lullabying: I recently reverted your edit which removed dozens of entries from List of boys' love dramas. Per WP:NLIST: The entirety of the list does not need to be documented in sources for notability, only that the grouping or set in general has been. Because the group or set is notable, the individual entries in the list do not need to be independently notable.
That being said, I'll see if I can find better sources for the entries you removed. Please give me time so I can improve the article. Thank you. — hhypeboyh 💬 • ✏️ 09:58, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Per WP:LISTCRIT:
As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a directory, repository of links, or means of promotion, and should not contain indiscriminate lists, only certain types of lists should be exhaustive. Criteria for inclusion should factor in encyclopedic and topical relevance, not just verifiable existence.
The majority of the series listed on their page are supported with links on where to watch the video, or unreliable sources (like BL Watcher, which does not have an editorial board and therefore is viewed as a random blog). The list itself is already tagged with unreliable sources. If a series does not have a Wikipedia article, nor is there a third party reliable source, then it shouldn't be listed. There is no need to list every BL drama in existence especially if it's not notable, as Wikipedia is not a directory. lullabying (talk) 00:15, 21 August 2024 (UTC)- @Lullabying: To clarify, the editor stated that they put the unreliable source tag solely because of the YouTube links. Regardless, I appreciate the tagging of all the entries that need better source; I'll work on them over the span of the next few weeks. Cheers. — hhypeboyh 💬 • ✏️ 01:01, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- Pretty much all of the sources listed are unreliable or links to video sites. Try looking for academic or news sources. Take List of yaoi anime and manga as an example; there are thousands of BL manga in existence but of course we can only list the ones that are notable. lullabying (talk) 01:03, 21 August 2024 (UTC)

Hey there! Just converted this from a redirect the other day and I was hoping to find some help with regards to beefing up both the "Creation and development" and "Appearances" sections. Do you know where I can find sources discussing her development other than what's already in the article? If you have time, would it be alright with you if you can help expand the Appearances section as well? Finally, do you know where else I can find reception about her, both in English and Japanese? I was thinking there might be some review coverage of her but I'm not sure where to start. Thanks! Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 13:54, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, I am not familiar with the series so I'm afraid I cannot provide help. I generally search through magazines like Spoon 2Di, Pash! , and Newtype and purchase digital versions if I see that the magazine is doing a feature on the series. You're much more likely to find reception in English than in Japanese. Good luck. lullabying (talk) 00:20, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
