Pastor terry jones
It looks like you locked this redirect for Terry Jones (pastor). I would like to remove the redirect and create an article. Terry Jones is no longer notable for one event after the actual Quran burning last month. He should have his own page now. Pass a Method talk 08:05, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Vietnam Random Text Line
There is a line of text right under the Song Da drum and above the map of Vietnam showing the conquest of the south (the Nam tiến, 1069-1757) that is the only full screen line in it's paragraph. It appears to detract from the reading experience of the article. I talked to another editor but don't know how to fix it and don't want to risk being called a vandal on a locked page. How would fix the page or should I just leave it alone? --MOLEY (talk) 04:21, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
- You should leave it alone and not worry about it. The page layout changes according to your settings. It appears differently for people depending on what page zoom settings they use in their browser and/or their desktop's resolution settings. It automatically adjusts itself. So for some users the paragraph between the two pictures appears as several lines and others see only one line. -- Ϫ 06:02, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker.

OTRS question
Hey OE, how's it going. Got an OTRS q for u: on Satellite Sentinel Project we have some copy/pasted text. The third and fourth paras are copies from [1] and [2] respectively. Does the ticket (2011032310014406) cover this content? Thanks, The Interior (Talk) 01:46, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yes permission has been given for the text per the OTRS ticket. -- Ϫ 02:51, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
- I see. What's your feeling on pages like this (solely text copied verbatim from the subject's website)? Did you watch that stinker of a hockey game? The Interior (Talk) 03:02, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
- I have no problem with it. If the text is neutral and meets all our policies and it's released under a compatible license then it's fine. Whatever does the job best.
- No I didn't watch it but was following the score on the radio. By the time I got home it was already 4-1 so I don't bother watching the rest. I'm not concerned though. They'll still win the cup. -- Ϫ 03:08, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

- ...I don't see why either OlEnglish or I are in any way to blame for your choosing to continue to make comments which others had told you not to and then to take it personally when you were quieted. Hi
Just wanted to say hello. I'm a great fun of the work you have done so far. Keep going. God bless. -- CrossTempleJay talk 23:29, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- Again I saw you are willing to grant rollback rights. I was wondering if you could grant me the right. My work is divided between article writing and welcoming newbies. Concerning the latter, as I go about welcoming them, I come across a lot of newbies who wrongly edit pages (though some are clear vandalism) as often as I come across such errors I revert them and place messages on the talkpages showing them the right way to go about edits. With the experience I have acquired so far I believe I would be more effective in doing so with reviewer and rollback rights. Thank you-- CrossTempleJay talk 23:34, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Review Response, Wikipedia's "Editor's Review"
Thank you for your review of my version of the "Editor's Review", although I am looking into my talk page with some minor changes ahead. However, only a select amount of those will not be in bold, and some may be reworded. My user page has mixed reviews, but not everyone will see this "hostile and unwelcoming" as you mentioned on my editor's review. What I wanted to see is not solely from the last user's point of view. After looking at your reviews, nowhere on your review of my user page mentions anything about my article edits overall (not counting the user page). I do have an advice for you: When looking at my "Editor's Review" (though this can vary by editor), I am looking not only at your reviews from my talk page, but also from all my article edits (this applies to all users when doing such, not only me). Though I do appreciate your review, and although you may agree or disagree with another user and saying why you agree or disagree with the previous editor, I prefer adding your own reviews as well with good explanation. Therefore, after a careful evaluation of your reviews, your reviews are currently 50% complete. CHAK 001 (talk) 10:19, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
AFC unreferenced
So, I've been posting the 'please add refs' thing on the talk of users making new AFC's with no refs at all, and logging them in User:Chzz/afc unreferenced log. I'm doing this (semi) manually, for now; and think it's important to check them over, and see if it definitely 'works', sort of thing. And deal with any concerns.
It'd help a lot if you have any time to look at User:Chzz/afc unreferenced log and could check some, and add notes about what, if anything, happens (inline, indented) such as if it was declined/not notable, or if the user added refs, or whatever. You'll see I've added such comments on a few, but it takes time; hence asking you & Sonia for a bit of help, checking some.
SpicyNodes - possible new article
Greetings. We corresponded in August 2010 about the 'SpicyNodes' article. At the time, it was thought not to be sufficiently notable. SpicyNodes is a mindmapping visualization tool. In the time since then, the number of registered users has more than doubled, with particular uptake by schools. You can see chatter about it on Twitter: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=spicynodes
Can you please take a look at the SpicyNodes section of this page: Institute for Dynamic Educational Advancement. If you think it seems notable, please move that block of content here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpicyNodes and undo the existing redirect. Then, Spicynodes can be listed as an activity of the organization.
I'm sure you are busy, so if I don't hear from you, I will move it myself, but since we previously discussed this, I wanted to ask you. Thanks, Wxidea (talk) 02:17, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
- Personally, I think it should remain as is. But before moving it I would recommend first asking at the Wikipedia:Notability/Noticeboard for opinions from the wider community. -- Ϫ 13:33, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for your opinion, and also for directing me to Wikipedia:Notability/Noticeboard. I'll post the question there. Wxidea (talk) 13:50, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
Article cannot be found by searching Wikipedia?
Hey OlEnglish. I recently created the article for Williams Lake Youth Soccer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Williams_Lake_Youth_Soccer_Association) but if you search for it within Wikipedia it isn't findable. It can only be found by typing it in on the address bar or doing a Google search. Any idea why it can't be found from within Wikipedia? All the other articles I've created can be found by searching. :| Your my only Wikipedia friend who is reasonably active so I just thought I'd ask you. Cheers, bro! Cityscape4 (talk) 20:22, 15 May 2011
- It will be soon.. it's just new, and hasn't been sync'd with the search database yet. However, I'm concerned that this article has no reliable third party sources, and may not meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for organizations. -- Ϫ 09:42, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the answer. I have more sources that I have yet to add, I believe that once added this article should have enough reliable & third party sources. Thanks again for your help! Cityscape4 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 19:35, 16 May 2011 (UTC).

Can you please answer a quick question for me - creation of new article (COI declared already)
OE -
I hope you don't mind me contacting you, but I was wondering if you could answer a quick question for me, as you were very generous about helping me earlier with a Wikipedia article for a company my firm represents (Hatteras Networks). Apologies in advance if this is an imposition or if I'm somehow violating any Wikipedia guidelines.
I've refreshed my COI statement on my User Page, as I've been tasked with assisting another client in creating a Wikipedia article. As per the info I found, I added their company to the Requested Articles page. I read the Requested Articles talk page and looked through the history page to see if there had been any comments or actions related to this request, but I didn't see anything that looked like it was related.
We definitely want to abide by Wikipedia's guidelines, best practices, and codes of conduct, so I was hoping you might be able to fill me in on what would be the next best step. I didn't want to just create the article if it would be a violation of Wikipedia's rules or if it would upset other editors. We are planning to keep the article tightly within the rules for editing and will absolutely keep any content we add to a NPOV. If you don't mind, would you please share with me what we should be doing next? Any insight, advice, or assistance will be warmly welcomed and put to good use.
Thanks very much for your time; I appreciate it.
Best regards,
Melissa
--Mdrozdowski (talk) 16:57, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Melissa, sorry it took me a little while to get back to you. You're free to go ahead and create the article, however I have no control over how other editors may react to this. If it's neutral, well-sourced and well within policy there should be no problems, and seeing as you're completely in line with COI guidelines I don't foresee any issues, but some users are very picky and occasionally like to bite those who appear to be editing on behalf of a company. If that happens don't feel discouraged, just try to engage them in discussion. Hope that helps, good luck with the article! -- Ϫ 10:22, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
Autopattrolled and references
I am confused as to why you would grant autopatrolled status to a user with a long history of creating unreferenced BLPs as evidenced by the stream of PROD notices, most recently from Dec 2010 to April 2011 - so he/she isn't learning or improving. Surely we should limit this right to those who have shown that all of their articles are completely aligned with our policies, not just some of them? I am dismayed that we are unable to remove an "article creation" right from people (not that this would apply to Gypaetus), but going the other-way of reducing scrutiny of their creations with only an easily missed "please ref your bios" note, is not really appropriate. Regards, The-Pope (talk) 08:44, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't see it as much of a concern as I took a look at his past contributions and it seemed to me that he is in fact adding references to his new creations, as well as to his older ones. Furthermore, nothing in any of the sports bios he's created seemed contentious. I can easily remove the right if you really feel that would be the best thing for Wikipedia, however I would also like to see how the user would respond to your comments. -- Ϫ 10:10, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough I would like to see a few months of "good referencing" before giving him the tick, but, I guess after spending my last year on wikipedia referencing UBLPs my patience is lower than most! I'm off to the corner now to write out 100 times "I must WP:AGF". The-Pope (talk) 10:55, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Chasing the frog
I'm still not sold that we should be listing that external link on the Dux article. It fails RS and we really can't even put a name with who write what. I think it falls short as EL #11. Niteshift36 (talk) 23:33, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I thought that page has a lot of relevant additional information, including links to videos and such, that anyone looking for information on Dux would want to read and decide for themselves whether they believe it or not. We're just linking to it, not necessarily endorsing it. I thought it's beneficial in that it's helpful to readers, but if you really want think it should go you can remove it, I won't revert.
- BTW, have you seen this? I found it quite amusing ;) -- Ϫ 23:58, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
- My biggest concern is that another editor is going to decide we are endorsing it and try to ue it as a source. You and I both no it fails RS and I'm just trying to avoid that battle. I'll leave it alone for now. Yeah, I've seen that video. Niteshift36 (talk) 00:01, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
In the course of this month’s GOCE drive I came across the above article, most of which appears to have been directly lifted from AMORC instructions. The first couple of sentences are reasonably ‘encyclopaedic’ in tone, but then we have a disclaimer of officiality, suggesting the material was written for a web-page or publication under the organization’s identity, and then the dead giveaway “You are advised …”, obviously directed to members (actual or prospective). So I’m looking for a second opinion before I spend any time on it. Even assuming it’s not a copyvio (I haven’t yet attempted to find the source, which might well be PD) I have doubts about its suitability here. Do you think changing “you” to “the student” (& mutus mutandis), along with whatever other CEs are needed, would suffice to ‘neutralize’ it? Should I tag it for cleanup (not sure which would apply best) and leave it at that? Or do you think it should be proposed for deletion? I note that the talk page says it was split from a parent article that was getting too long—no wonder, if it was being stuffed with material like this!—Odysseus1479 (talk) 01:26, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry it took me a little while to get back to you. You're right that 'advisory' was inappropriate and I removed it. I also tagged it for a slew of other problems, the whole thing reads like a brochure. I don't know if it's a copyvio either, it looks like the author may have summarized chapters from some 'study guide', but you can always list it at WP:CP for further investigation. I really don't know anything about this subject, but I do know this article in its current state is clearly inappropriate for Wikipedia. I think the best thing to do here would be to nominate it for deletion at WP:AfD where it can be discussed, and hopefully it can be determined if this material is even notable independent of the organization, and justified in even having a separate article. If you don't want to go the AfD route, the Wikipedia:Content noticeboard would be a good place to get some input from other editors that may be more knowledgeable on this subject, they may know a better course of action to take. -- Ϫ 06:44, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Just wanted to let you know...
Hey there, I just wanted to let you know that on my guest list, I did request three tildes. The fourth tilde is used for dating the signature, but I did not want to see the date of the signature. Also, I only allowed the pound key followed by three tildes, but I did not want comments on my guest list. The one that I signed was only for example purposes, so I modified the instructions just to be a bit clear. CHAK 001 (Improvements? Please let me know!) 19:01, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

adminship reply
Sorry I didn't reply to your kind message on my talk page last week suggesting that I request adminship. I have thought about it before, and your message has me thinking about it some more. I am going to be on a couple short wikibreaks coming up so the timing is probably not ideal for a few weeks, but I'll get back to you about it at that time. I just wanted to acknowledge and thank you for your message! --Esprqii (talk) 17:06, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Humble request...
Revision and updating of the Tip-of-the-day collection is underway.
Out-of-date or obsolete tips have been making it through to the Community Portal and main Help page! We must prevent this from happening again.
Please place the following template code on your user or talk page, and check the daily tip for accuracy. It's displayed one day early, to give us time to fix it.
{{totd-tomorrow}}
Please make the corrections yourself if you can. And report the tip at Wikipedia talk:Tip of the day, especially if you don't know what to write.
There's a tip schedule at WP:TOTD in case you feel like proofreading further ahead. If you come across an obsolete tip, please let me know right away, and I'll try to find a replacement.
Thank you.
Sincerely, The Transhumanist 01:49, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Hello Ol E
Hi there,
I work for a company and recently changed our page on wiki because the existing page was inaccurate and misrepresenting. You took it down and reverted back to the old version because i had copypaisted some stuff from our website. I reworded things and took out the self endorsing propaganda language to try and make the content strickly informative, since that's what i think wiki should be :) I realize that there should be some more involvement and less bias when creating a wiki page than just a guy that works there... so i tried to take the pride i have out of the language of the content. If you have time, let me know if this version follows the proper etiquette. Hopefully this more accurate, basic information will drive more involvement from others too.

- Sorry no, this version is still not appropriate. It still has no references, there's still full sentences copypasted from the website which is a copyright violation, and a lot of it still reads like a company brochure instead of neutral encyclopedia article. Also, you really should follow the guideline for users editing with a conflict of interest. I'm going to have to revert back to the stable version, because it at least had references.
- You mentioned there was inaccurate and misrepresenting content? The correct thing to do in this case is to note the issues on the article's talk page, disclose your conflict of interest also, and another uninvolved editor will come along and respond and they will then correct whatever needs correcting. Template:Request edit can help you do this.
- Sorry, this is exactly why we have guidelines like WP:COI discouraging involved editors from editing their related articles; it's really really hard for you to remain neutral. But I do appreciate your candor, and understanding. -- Ϫ 15:04, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
List of objects that have gone over Niagara Falls
Hi! On 11 August last year you added a suggestion to WP:REQL – List of objects that have gone over Niagara Falls. I though I'd let you know I've started it off! matt (talk)
- Thanks! It's perfect! Great job. -- Ϫ 22:22, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
