editLearnedly, from Hellenistic Koine Greek ἀπεκδύομαι (apekdúomai, “take one's clothes off”), also with figurative sense. Morphologicaly, απ- (ap-) + εκδύω (ekdýo, “strip”) in the passive voice with -ομαι (-omai) ending.
