The article Fathers 4 Justice protests has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is an almost completely unreferenced narrative about the group's past activities, with a small linkfarm of news articles at the bottom; can't find anything here to merge to Fathers 4 Justice that isn't already covered in the parent article, better worded and with better referencing.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello Philip Stevens. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Talk:Falklands Islands Rifle Association, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: R2 only applies to redirects from mainspace. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 10:18, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Falkland Islands general election, 1964, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Falkland Islands general election, 1960. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 18:19, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Template:Succession incumbent, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. (See section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) If an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hello Philip. I removed {{Gibraltar elections}} from this category so it could be deleted. It appears to have been created in error, as the majority of the contents were results templates (now moved to the correctly-titled Category:Gibraltar election result templates). As there is only one election year template for Gibraltar and are unlikely to ever be any more, I think the category is unnecessary (we only have them for other countries when they have several (see, e.g. Category:United Kingdom election year templates). Would you mind if I removed it from the category again (the template is in Category:Gibraltar politics and government templates). Cheers, Number 57 20:38, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You created the Redirect page Alex Mayhew some time ago. I wonder how you came up with that name? I remember that I have come accross that name on Twitter or the Being Human blog somewhere, but I do not know where anymore. It is a long time since Being Human was broadcast. Anyway the official name is Alex Millar and this name can be found in the literature as well as inuniverse within the Being Human episodes. Since I do not find any reliable information about Alex Mayhew in the web, I am thinking of nominating the page for deletion. Alexandra Millar is a better redirect, since that name was used for Alex. Keeping the name Alex Mayhew would only cause confusion, I think. Or is there any reason why the name Alex Mayhew could also be right for Alex (the only thing that I could imagine is that it is her mother's name, and that Alex did not use it anymore when her mother left the family, but if that is so, there needs to be a reference I think. Either an online/literature reference or one from an episode). What do you think? --Dynara23 (talk) 21:26, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wee Curry Monster Thanks for this, but it wasn't contrary to the policy. The policy states "Articles that directly relate to the dispute include a translation involving Malvinas directly after the first instance of the word Falkland, but use Falkland alone thereafter." The articles I edited were mainly about Argentine personnel and units at the time of the 1982 war, they did not directly talk about the sovereignty dispute. On my edit to Argentina–United Kingdom relations I actually corrected the translation as that page clearly did relate to the dispute. Philip Stevens (talk) 07:20, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Trump successor in infobox template

[edit]

If my digging in the history is correct, you had a big part in designing the Template talk:Infobox officeholder. There is a current discisison going on whether the Donald Trump page should feature a |successor= parameter with Joe Biden. I thought you might be interested to know since it seems you are the one who wrote "The infobox for an incumbent officeholder should not mention an elected or designated successor, or the end date of the term, until the transition actually takes place." Eccekevin (talk) 02:27, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Eccekevin: Thank you for letting me know. My position remains the same. We should not add a designated successor or the end date until the individual has left office. Firstly, adding an end date changes the script on the template, making it look like they have left office before they have. More importantly, it is WP:CRYSTALBALL as circumstances might change. It is unlikely, but it is possible that Kamala Harris will succeed Trump (Joe Biden is 78 years old, I don't think I need to say more). Also, Trump might resign, instead of hanging around as a lame duck, and leave it to Mike Pence to handle the transition. In all likelihood Joe Biden will succeed Trump on 20 Jan 2021, but we won't know for certain until that happens. To add a successor or end date before then, in my view, is unencyclopedic. --Philip Stevens (talk) 17:07, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Understable. But how does this square with the existence of the |succeeding= and the use of member-elect positions in infoboxes? Wouldn't that also be WP:CRYSTALBALL? Eccekevin (talk) 03:16, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Why not state your position in the RfC? (If this is canvassing, I'll take the block.) ―Mandruss  23:47, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Clerk of the Crown requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

[This page was created for the sole purpose of redirecting to Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, but the "Clerk of the Crown" is not always the same as "Clerk of the Crown in Chancery". The Clerk of the Crown in Chancery page is already very visited and does not require this redirect that no one uses.]

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Barbados

[edit]

Hi Philip. Why have you removed Barbados from the category "Constitutional republics", which it certainly belongs to as well as that (if there is one) of "Parliamentary republics"? Errantius (talk) 13:03, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot see a definition of 'Constitutional republic', but my view was that a Constitutional republic is like that of the United States, where the Constitution is a sovereign document, but in Barbados parliament is sovereign (although the Constitution is the supreme law). Looking in the Constitutional republics category, I cannot see another parliamentary democracy in there. If you disagree, please feel free to put the category back and add to the Barbados talk page. --Philip Stevens (talk) 15:26, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
