Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *r-kup (“buttocks; anus”) (Schuessler, 2007; STEDT). Cognate with Tibetan རྐུབ (rkub, “buttocks; anus”).
Alternatively, it may be related to 窟 (OC *kʰluːd, “cave; pit”) (STEDT).
