Abstract
The practice was carried out with the main objective of understanding the behavior of a
compressible fluid by means of the relationship with an incompressible fluid, for which
parameters such as fluid velocity, density, pressure and Mach number were considered. For the
practice we use a convergent-divergent nozzle, which with a given area ratio (A / A *), through
which a fluid passes, and with a unique value for the ratio of the static pressure of the wall to the
pressure A specific Mach number was calculated in the reservoir. For the taking of data, the
compressor was turned on a little earlier so that the air compression reached 150 psi, initially
through the drum of indicator gauge, the Mach was set to 3.0, and the ball valve was opened so
that the air enters the tunnel. As soon as the solenoid valve switch was moved to the "Locked"
position and the ball valve was closed, readings were taken from the gauges, then the air
passage to the tunnel was closed again by means of the "Unlocked" position. "Of the solenoid
valve and the closing of the ball valve and finally the whole procedure was repeated for Mach
numbers of 2.5, 2.0 and 1.5. It was found that by causing small changes in pressure on a fluid it
would undergo a considerable change in density and therefore change the speed and Mach
number of the fluid during each position through the pipeline.
Finally, with the data obtained, the respective graphs were made and the distribution of static
pressure vs. the theoretical one in a convergent-divergent nozzle with supersonic discharge, as
well as the distribution of the number of experimental Mach vs. Theoretical in a convergent-
divergent nozzle with supersonic discharge.
