Results, after data analysis using descriptive and inferential statistics, indicated that Iranian-Americans have a more realistic self concept when they function in English than when they function in Persian. Their average self concepts in English and Persian do not match. Moreover, the female Iranian-American shows a larger discrepancy in her English and Persian self concepts than her male counterpart. This indicates that females are more open to alienation than males. The results of this study lend empirical support to claims made by previous researchers that bilinguals have a kind of split personality. After the filed study, it was concluded that a bilingual is not a unique person who assumes different identities when he functions in the different languages he knows, but that a bilingual possess two different 'guises' or 'selves' which are language-specific and are used in accordance with the language the bilingual speaks at any given point in time.

Although student textbooks tend to include a wide range of additional exercises, students in advanced linguistics and language courses require learning objects to obtain additional practice. Online repositories offer excellent opportunities for independent study and their creation, although expensive, is usually worth developing. Purpose of Study: This paper discusses the different aspects of the project FILILAB, which is aimed at developing a learning object repository. Sources of Evidence: The sources of information used are based on authors such as Isabel Pérez. Analysis and results: This paper presents the benefits, form and construct of the repository.

It implies setting standard behaviors as well as showing ways to work. In one word, teachers are an example in the classroom. The implementation of their way to teach will be considered as good or bad teaching by their own students for many years. Likewise, the way they use technology in the classroom can trigger motivation and perceptions in their future students. That is why, teachers need to be conscious of what they do in the classroom and adopt technology principles to be applied in a near future. This paper addresses how teachers do that at Universidad de Alcala (Madrid, Spain). The paper shows the main work done in class and considers the effect in the short and long run. Keywords: technology, attitudes, teacher education, English teaching. Resumen: Ser un maestro es mucho mas que entregar contenidos en la clase. Implica establecer comportamientos estandar, asi como mostrar formas de trabajar. E...

A small questionnaire was administered to 73 third-year student teachers at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). Results indicate that integrative reasons were the most dominant to choose teaching for both male and female students, followed next by altruistic reasons. Extrinsic reasons such as job security or lengthy holidays seem to have the least impact upon participants’ decision to enter the profession. However, results reveal statistically significant differences across motivational reasons within each category as a function of gender. Findings also indicate that participants show a highly positive self-concept regarding their English proficiency. This latter affective variable was found to be positively correlated with participants’ mastery of oral ski...

English is just one of those subjects in which this has been remarkably significant due to the lack of classroom interaction and the reduced amount of input students have received. The current study explores 14 EFL teachers' reflections on the main challenges they have been facing. Their responses were given in an open-ended survey. The Content Analysis carry out aimed at identifying the main constraints primary and secondary EFL teachers have faced while teaching during the first months of the pandemic. It also addresses the possible solutions they have used to address the input scarcity due to the current situation. The paper stresses that it is clear the role that input and strategies have in language learning. The paper concludes that the gap in learning may require additional teaching support in the incoming years.

Most Language Assistants come from English speaking countries, especially from the United States. In their role as Language Assistants, they are expected to bring and share their knowledge about cultural aspects and content subjects and, at the same time, they need to share their beliefs and perspectives towards Spain and Spanish schools. Nevertheless, there is sometimes controversy around this topic as there are obvious differences and similarities between both cultures; one of them being the misconception regarding the type of culture the need to teach to students.

Big data, or massive data, is the storage of large amounts of data that can be analyzed by various procedures and allows us to find repetitive patterns or predictive formulas that can generate learning about ourselves and especially the network. In the case of the massive data that are generated through the use of tests in the learning and certification of knowledge of languages as a foreign language at the national level, we find that it might be useful to apply Big Data's processing methodologies in order to know better if the information
