Balaenoptera adalah genus terbesar paus Rorqual, terdiri dari delapan spesies, termasuk spesies yang baru ditemukan, Balaenoptera omurai tahun 2003. Satu-satunya paus rorqual yang kini tidak diklasifikasikan sebagai anggota genus Balaenoptera adalah Paus Bungkuk, Megaptera novaeangliae.
