Yield: 6 Rotis INGREDIENTS For Filling: Split Peas - 2 cups Water - 10 cups Turmeric Powder (Saffron) - 2 tsp Salt - 1 1/2 tbsp Chadon Beni/Culantro - 12 leaves/ 1/4 cup Scotch Bonnet Pepper - 1 tbsp or to taste (seeds & core removed) Garlic - 3 tbsp (minced) Coconut Oil/Ghee - 3 tbsp Roasted Geera/Cumin Powder - 1 tbsp For Dough: All Purpose Flour - 4 cups Baking Powder - 1 tbsp Brown Sugar - 1 1/2 tsp Salt - 2 tsp Warm Water - 1 1/2 cups Melted Ghee - 1 tsp + 1/2 cup METHOD…

Natasha Laggan on Instagram: "Dhalpuri is a quintessential Trini Roti ( flatbread) , expertly filled with ground seasoned split peas. The peas is boiled with turmeric until soft but still firm and ground with garlic, culantro, scotch bonnet and curry leaves. Salt and coated cumin is added and mixed in to give you a spiced filling that is stuffed into doughballs. Best eaten with curry or stew and an assortment of veggies options , pumpkin and mango talkari being my favourites. For the Dough - 3 cups all purpose flour 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp sugar 1/2 tsp salt 2 cups hot water - only use the amount needed to make a soft dough. For the filling- Boil split peas until tender with turmeric Grind with culantro, garlic , scotch bonnet until smooth Add geera and salt mixing well. Fill into Trini Roti, Split Peas, Scotch Bonnet, Split Pea, All Purpose Flour, Curry Leaves, Indian Dishes, Flatbread, 2 Cups
