This paper that would be presented in International Conference on Anti Human Trafficking Initiatives: Theory to Practice, Kolkata, India, 25th-26th November 2017, proposes a multi-track diplomacy to prevent and anticipate the misuse of Indonesian migrant workers (Tenaga Kerja Indonesia/ TKI) that have been working in Middle East and Asian countries since Indonesia applies Law No.39 Year 2004 about the TKI management, Law of Anti-Human-Trafficking No.21 Year 2007, and also Law No.5 Year 1999 (supplemented with Presidential Regulation No.88 Year 2002) to ratify UN Protocol to Prevent, Suppress, and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children, Supplementing the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime.
Those laws show that das sollen, Indonesia has rule of law to protect TKI, but das sein, TKI nowadays are being regarded as real slave, not a humanbeing. They are being raped, trafficked, beaten, not paid, and other worse cases in Middle East and Asian countries that absorb many TKI as domestic workers or nurses.
Based on the truth spoken in the news and researcher of Migrant Care, at least there are 13.318 TKI being raped or being trapped to be prostitutes in the year of 2010. In the year of 2013, United Nations said that Indonesia is the second largest country with the large numbers of human trafficking issues. TKI cases is the one who gives largest contribution for human trafficking system in Indonesia.
Realizing with that condition, I as scholar want this paper to be an eye opener to all international stakeholders to prevent and anticipate the devil circle of TKI false system. To analyze the problem, this paper use qualitative method based on academic, journal, research, legal reports concerning issues of TKI in Middle East and Asian countries and to propose multi-track diplomacy, this paper uses the theory of Joseph Stiglitz about modern economy, includes the analysis of poverty of Indonesia that maybe one of highest factor the existence of TKI.

Using a comprehensive qualitative literature review approach, the research analyzes strategies that address geopolitical dynamics, resource competition, cultural and technological impacts, regulatory frameworks, and implementation processes. The article acknowledges challenges in historical grievances, governance, infrastructure, environmental risks, and social cohesion in both Indonesia and Papua. To unlock Papua's well-being and security, several key initiatives are proposed. These initiatives include preserving cultural heritage, improving education and healthcare, developing infrastructure and tourism, promoting regional cooperation, and ensuring equitable benefits for indigenous Papuan communities. Emphasizing drivers of competitiveness such as innovation, research, human capital, and regional integration, the research identifies sectors with growth potential, such as natural resources, agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, and manufacturing. To fulfill Indonesia's global role, an outward-oriented strategy that prioritizes cultural values, economic progress, environmental conservation, maritime collaboration, and diplomatic engagement is recommended. Successful implementation of these strategies is expected to enhance regional stability, increase prosperity, improve cooperation, and achieve inclusive and sustainable development in Papua. The article provides recommendations for strengthening national identity, preserving cultural diversity, empowering local communities, enhancing education, promoting social cohesion, ensuring environmental sustainability, and strengthening global partnerships. By implementing these initiatives, Indonesia can effectively navigate geopolitical dynamics, unlock Papua's economic potential, and foster inclusive growth. This research aligns with the vision of Indonesia Golden 2045, promoting a harmonious, prosperous, and inclusive environment.

With various kinds of information in it, social media can influence public views in the process of forming opinions or points of view. In addition to having a positive impact, social media can also have a negative impact if users cannot filter properly the news or information they find. This research examines the role of social media in building public opinion, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic so that it affects national defense. The research method used is literature study. The results of the study show that social media has become a means of spreading both positive and negative information about Covid-19. Social media has great power to lead to public perceptions, which can generate opinions and then create social behavior that is counter-productive to the handling of the Covid-19 pande...

It has a long coastline to the north bordering Malaysia. Based on its geographical location, one-third of West Kalimantan is along the coast and islands facing The Indonesian Archipelago Sea Lane (ALKI I). In accordance with the policy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the transfer of the New National Capital (IKN) to Kutai Kertanegara Regency precisely in Penajam Pasir Utara. This will have implications for the change of the Indonesian Center of Gravity (CoG) which is also moving from Jakarta to the new IKN. With such conditions in the geographical constellation of national resources, the West Kalimantan region has the potential for security disturbances that can occur in and or by sea. The Main Base of the Indonesian Navy XII Pontianak as one of the defense instruments, has the task to ...

The Papua Separatist Movement (PSM) seeks international support for an alternative referendum to the 1969 Pepera, aiming to achieve independence from Indonesia through political, covert, and armed means, despite the government's closure of referendum options. This qualitative research, based on a comprehensive literature review, aims to explore efforts to address and improve key issues exploited by the PSM's political front, including economic inequality, education disparities, healthcare gaps, infrastructure limitations, and security challenges. Additionally, the study will examine initiatives aimed at curbing the activities of the PSM's armed front, which has been implicated in numerous human rights violations against indigenous Papuans, civilians, foreigners, security personnel, and the military. President Jokowi has emphasized the need for a comprehensive solution to this issue, underscoring the importance of addressing root causes while maintaining the government's soft power approach, which focuses on normative and functional integration. Furthermore, the Indonesian government actively engages in diplomatic interactions with other nations, organizations, and international communities, with the ultimate objective of resolving the conflict through the harmonious integration of Papua into Indonesia's vision of a secure and prosperous nation.

Then there was a shift in the use of nuclear power from military to peaceful purposes, such as economic goals, and many countries built nuclear reactors as an alternative to conventional fuels. In addition, nuclear power can also serve as a very strong deterrent factor to prevent open war. Indonesia's geographical position is currently surrounded by countries that own nuclear reactors, such as North Korea, Iran, Russia, China, and India, followed by the formation of the AUKUS alliance of Australia, the United Kingdom (U.K.), and the United States (U.S.). With the geopolitical conditions and escalation in the region, Indonesia should take precautionary measures to avoid a nuclear war in the region. This study aims to identify the best anticipatory steps that can be taken by conducting in-depth Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and extractin...

The water samples were collected from Ajiwa dam raw water, taps, wells, boreholes, and sachet waters and the concentration of heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Cr, Co, and Ni), was determined using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results obtained from the water analysis indicate that cadmium was not found in all the water samples. The concentrations range for lead were (6.222-109.63)µg/L with maximum concentration value of 109.63 µg/L in Ajiwa dam raw water, above the World Health Organization (WHO) limit, nickel (0.72-6.99)µg/L with maximum concentration value of 6.99 µg/L in borehole water, within WHO limit, chromium (36-72)µg/L with maximum concentration value of 72 µg/L in well water, above WHO limit, cobalt (4.758-9.516) µg/L with maximum concentration value of 9.516 µg/L in well water, within WHO limit. The results indicate that most of the concentrations of the heavy metals determined were within the WHO limit, except for chromium in well water which may arises from the Government activities of money recycling and incineration of old bank notes which does not affect other water sources in the area and lead in Ajiwa dam raw water which was further removed through water treatment processes. Moreover, the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) indicate no significant difference in the means of the heavy metals concentrations in all the water samples analyzed, and this may be due to the same physicochemical factors and limited industrial activities in the study area.

This study applied a combination of analytic hierarchy process (AHP), Political, Economic, Social, Techonology, Environment, and Legal (PESTEL) and Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) analysis to conduct a structured, systematic, measurable, and comprehensive decision-making process for selecting military amphibious aircraft and prescribe strategic recommendations on the acquisition plan. By using 3 criteria, 14 sub-criteria, and 3 alternative aircraft models, the results of AHP analysis showed that the Beriev Be-200 aircraft are the most preferred aircraft by the Indonesian users. The results of PESTEL-SWOT analysis show that good diplom...

S... more Summary Life history theory predicts a trade-off between the quantity and quality of offspring. Short interbirth intervals—the time between successive births—may increase the quantity of offspring but harm offspring quality. In contrast, long interbirth intervals may bolster offspring quality while reducing overall reproductive output. Further research is needed to determine whether this relationship holds among primates, which have intensive parental investment. Using Cox proportional hazards models, we examined the effects of interbirth intervals (short, normal, or long) on infant survivorship using a large demographic dataset (n = 15,852) of captive callitrichine monkeys (marmosets, tamarins, and lion tamarins). In seven of the nine species studied, infants born after short interbirth intervals had significantly higher risks of mortality than infants born after longer interbirth intervals. These results suggest that reproduction in callitrichine primates may be limited by physiologic constraints, such that short birth spacing drives higher infant mortality.

Data obtained through literature study and interviews with informants, then analyzed using qualitative methods. The results of this study can be concluded that Indonesia's current defense strategy has not been concretely described and the problems found in the formulation of Indonesian policies have yet to be found a solution because there are still egos and differences in interests among policy makers, the solution requires commitment from the Ministry of Defense, TNI Headquarters, and Main Command to faithfully adhere to execute all planning and road map that were prepared together.

This paper presents a comparison of the application of the above aspects in three cases of rebellion in Indonesia, namely Darul Islam/ Tentara Islam Indonesia (DI/TII) in West Java, the Fretilin group in East Timor, and the Free Aceh Movement (Gerakan Aceh Merdeka/GAM) in Aceh. Descriptive comparisons refer to the use of library materials to describe the common thread of differences and similarities of the three movements. As a result, exposure to differences and similarities from the application of aspects of diplomacy, total defense strategy, and irregular warfare in the three cases above. Even though the time constraints and understanding of descriptive analysis may have been a limitation in this paper, the comparative presentation presented can be subject to further study, especially regarding the case of war to quell the rebellion in Indonesia.
