There were 344 participants (mean age 16.3 years; 16.2% in science course). Saffron had most reported knowledge (n = 265, 77.0%) and ever use (n = 324, 94.1%). The average number of source of knowledge was 2.5; parents (n = 224, 65.1%) were the single most frequent source. Media (combined magazine, the Internet, TV, radio) was the source of knowledge for 283 (82.2%) participants. Actual use was "harmful" for the majority (n = 182, 52.9%; no idea n = 83, 24.1%). Parents and media provided knowledge on herbal drugs for most, supporting unsurprisingly high perceived knowledge ...

While the compressed videos are transmitted through error-prone networks, error robustness becomes an important issue. In the past years, a number of rate-distortion (R-D) optimized coding mode selection schemes have been proposed for error-resilient video coding, including a recursive optimal per-pixel estimate (ROPE) method. However, the ROPE-related approaches assume integer-pixel motion-compensated prediction rather than subpixel prediction, whose extension to H.264 is not straightforward. Alternatively, an error-robust R-D optimization (ER-RDO) method has been included in H.264 test model, in which the estimate of pixel distortion is derived by simulating decoding process multiple times in the encoder. Obviously, the computing complexity is very high. To address this problem, we propose a new end-to-end distortion model for R-D optimized coding mode selection, in which the overall distortion is taken as the sum of several separable distortion items. Thus, it can suppress the approximation errors caused by pixel averaging operations such as subpixel prediction. Based on the proposed end-to-end distortion model, a new Lagrange multiplier is derived for R-D optimized coding mode selection in packet-loss environment by taking into account of the network conditions. The rate control and complexity issues are also discussed in this paper.

Predicted extreme exceedance probabilities associated with experimental measurements of highly no... more Predicted extreme exceedance probabilities associated with experimental measurements of highly nonlinear clamped-clamped beam vibrations driven by band-limited white-noise, are compared using two different approaches for application to short data sets. The first approach uses response history measurements to calibrate a discrete dynamic model using a Markov moment method appropriately matched to extreme value prediction via finite element solution of the Fokker-Planck (FPK) equation. The dynamic model is obtained via the Woinowsky-Krieger equation with added empirical damping. Stationary FPK solutions are used to obtain mean crossing rates, and for the purpose of extreme value prediction, crossings are assumed to be independent. The second approach uses a Weissman type I asymptotic estimator, justified by use of the Hasofer-Wang hypothesis test. Both methods are compared with exceedance probabilities obtained using data from 'long' experiments in which dependence between extreme values is excluded. The paper shows that by exploiting the Weissman estimator in a 'forward' predictive mode, very accurate exceedance probabilities can be obtained from relatively small amounts of measured data. The calibrated model based predictions are consistently in error as a result of non-linear coupling effects not included in the model -this coupling is implicitly accounted for in the Weissman predictions.

The variational iteration method is based on Lagrange multipliers for identification of optimal value of parameters in a functional. Using this method, it is possible to find the exact solution or an approximate solution of the problem.

Furthermore, hydantoins and thiohydantoins are known to exhibit a wide range of biological activities, including anticonvulsant, antiarrhythmic, anti inflammatory, and antidiabetic properties, as well as herbicidal and fungicidal activity. As part of our current studies on the development of new routes in heterocyclic synthesis, We now report an efficient one-pot green synthesis of new imidazoles.

Factors were considered as three levels of drought stress (70%fc, 50%fc, 30%fc) and four levels of zeolite (0, 1.5, 2, 2.5 g/1kgsoil). Analyze of variance showed that all of growth parameters and essential oil yield were affected by drought stress and zeolite application. Drought stress motivated a significant reduction in all growth parameter except oil percentage. At mainly zeolite application increased the mean of all traits. Results for interaction effects showed that zeolite application in drought stress increased the means of all traits. Analysis of variance for essential yield revealed that the highest oil yield belonged to drought stress 50%fc and 2.5gr zeolite. It seems that zeolite applicat...

Thirty Mung bean genotypes, chosen from Iran national germplasm, Plus three commercial cultivars were tasted under normal and drought stress conditions. All the traits were analyzed by multivariate statistical to detect drought effects on traits performance. Regarding the statistic results although these genotypes were advanced lines, there was wide genetic diversity among genotypes. In both conditions, seed yield was significantly correlated with yield components and morphological and phonological traits, regression and path analysis illustrated that harvest index had the highest direct effect on economic yield. Factor analysis indicated that four independent factors explained 75% of total variance in normal condition and 78% in stress condition. Results of mean comparisons by Duncan metho...
