
Emily Metzgar
A former US diplomat, policy analyst, and newspaper columnist, Emily Metzgar joined the Journalism faculty at Indiana University in 2008. Her research focuses on public diplomacy, international communication, and the role of media in society. Metzgar’s work has appeared in Political Communication, Place Branding & Public Diplomacy, Columbia Journalism Review, USA Today and elsewhere. She is the head of the International Communication Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and is writing a book about American alumni of the Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program and their growing influence on the US-Japan relationship.
