KTSM (690 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to El Paso, Texas. KTSM is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and airs a Talk radio format. The transmitter is in the extreme north end of El Paso, and studios are located along Mesa Drive in west central El Paso.
KTSM broadcasts at 10,000 watts around the clock. Because the station operates on 690 kHz, a Canadian Clear-channel frequency, KTSM uses a directional antenna to avoid interfering with other stations at the same dial position.
Programming
KTSM's weekday schedule is made up of nationally syndicated talk shows, with national news from Fox News Radio as well as local news updates. Most of the programs are supplied by Premiere Networks, a subsidiary of iHeartMedia. Weekday mornings start at 4 a.m. with Doug Stephan, followed by Glenn Beck at 7 a.m. and Rush Limbaugh at 10 a.m. Afternoons feature Sean Hannity at 1 p.m. and Mark Levin at 4 p.m. In the evening, Todd Schnitt is heard at 7 p.m., Clyde Lewis at 8 p.m. and Coast to Coast AM with George Noory at 11 p.m. Weekends feature syndicated shows from Kim Komando, Bob Brinker, Bill Handel, Gary Sullivan, Bruce DuMont, Bill Cunningham and Ric Edelman. Repeats of some weekday shows are heard and some hours are paid Brokered programming.
History
Historically, KTSM's frequency was 1380 kHz. However, in 2000, while under the ownership of Clear Channel Communications (the former name of iHeartMedia), the station swapped frequencies with KHEY, the market's last AM Country music station. KHEY, now at 1380, currently airs a Sports radio format.
