Manish G. Acharya (June 14, 1967 – December 4, 2010) was an Indian film director and actor. Acharya was best known for Loins of Punjab Presents, which marked Acharya's debut as a film director.[1] Loins of Punjab Presents, which was released in 2007, starred Shabana Azmi.[1] His other film credits include a cameo as himself in the 2009 film, Luck by Chance and as narrator in Sita Sings the Blues.[1]
Acharya received a bachelor's degree from Grinnell College in physics in 1989.[2][3] Acharya received a Master of Science from Iowa State in Industrial Relations.[2] He then obtained a Master of Fine Arts in film directing from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.[1]
Acharya suffered a fall from a horse on December 4, 2010, in Matheran, Maharashtra.[1] He was taken to a hospital in Matheran, where he was pronounced dead from head injuries.[1] Acharya's funeral services took place at the Chandanwadi crematorium in south Mumbai.[1]
