The McCoy Solar Energy Project is a proposed 750 MW solar power station using photovoltaics planned for Riverside County, California, in the Mojave Desert, near Blythe, California.[1] Southern California Edison has agreed to purchase the first 250MW, once completed.[2] McCoy started generating energy in August 2015.[3] The first 250 MW is being constructed using CdTe thin film panels by First Solar with completion expected in 2016.[4] Completing the remaining 500 MW will depend on finding a buyer for the electricity.[5]

The McCoy Solar Energy Project was proposed by NextEra Energy, a publicly listed corporation based in Juno Beach, Florida and listed on the NYSE under the symbol NEE.
