how about of you are using the Tunnels of Nechrubel expansion then a pit swallows you into the tunnels in this situation?

I am working on another small pnp game where this kind of thing happens - it is a side-scrawler and the floor collapses if you hit a dead end

This does seem to he a very rare occurrence, though - I never had it happen on 10+ pre-repease playthroughs of BASILISK!

I should remove it from the 'paid' download: the playthrough example file collects several three different playthroughs, starting with RBS. The 'demo' version only includes RBS. I merged all the files, because people found if confusing having to download both the 'demo' and paid packages to get all the material.

The value changes depending how many 'special' rooms or objectives you have discovered. The idea is you get less exits as you go on, so you would have to backtrack and explore exits you had not already gone down. See the Solitary Defilement dungeon crawling rules for more info!

Sorry for the confusion. The 'demo' contains the basic rules and one pamphlet adventure. Purchasing adds the city crawling book and additional content. I need to get round to duplicating the other material in the paid version to avoid confusion!

Great - I hope you have fun. I've found Painflail on its own pretty useful for solo sessions with Solitary Defilement, for when the theatre of the mind becomes a bit too arduous, but I think it does really come into its own with the Quest expansion. You can adapt DNGNGEN or Solitary Defilement dungeons in minutes.

Yes, exits are relative to the direction you enter from.

Have you exhausted all possibilities? Remember the top and bottom of the map wrap round. You could also return to the entrances on the left and explore s other path. Rooms can also be searched, with a 1 in 4 chance of finding a secret door. Teleport Traps and backslide spells can also move you to undiscovered squares.

However, if all those avenues have been exhausted, I guess it is a loss, unless you have any other characters with backside, or a grappling hook if the way has been blocked  by a chasm etc. I have never had a game which ended in dead ends, but I guess it is still a small possibility despite the ways around mentioned above!

Do you have the file Solitary-Defilement.pdf? That is thr main book. Any references to 'Corr' refer to thr core Mork Borg rulebook. Does that help?
