A: "able" is like "can." These terms are somewhat general and vague

"capable" is similar to "able/can," but it is stronger because it implies that someone has the power, strength, skill, or ability needed to do something

For example, if someone were to ask me, "Hey, can you fix me up some breakfast?" I wouldn't mind because they are simply asking me to cook breakfast. However, if someone asked me, "Are you (*even) capable of cooking breakfast?" I would be very offended because it sounds like they are condescendingly saying I have no cooking skills

If you are doing something and I want to help you, I would say “I can help you with that”. “I am able to help you with that” just sounds like I am stating my ability, but it doesn’t make it clear that if you consent, I actually WILL help you with that.

Another usage difference is in the future tense. You have to say “I will be able to help you”. You can’t use “can” in the future tense. There is no “will can”

"to respect" -> respectable
"He is a respectable man." (He is a man who you can respect)

"to achieve" -> achievable

"~ful" just means "full of", and is added to nouns to create an adjective. The opposite is "~less".

care -> careful (opposite is careless)

joy -> joyful (joyless)

thought -> thoughtful (thoughtless)

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for all words! Respect -> respectful, but respectless isn't a word!

A: Well, I think both are interchangeable but To talk about things that we managed to do on specific occasions in the past, we cannot use could. Instead, we use was/were able to.
