Q:
riot と rebellion と insurgency と mutiny と treason はどう違いますか?
A:
Great question!
A riot is usually unplanned, and one group in a single place. Two groups rioting about the same thing in different places is not the same riot.
A rebellion is usually an organised, long term action against an authority. it can be violent or nonviolent.
If a rebellion is between two groups that are not officially at war, that is described as an insurgency (for example, America is not officially "at war" with ISIS, as ISIS is not an official world power. therefore ISIS rebels are called insurgents).
Mutiny is a refusal to obey, or a rebellion against a leader or figure, and is usually used by soldiers or sailors against their captains.
Treason is when a crime harms the country, not necessarily a leader or authority (though treason is often used when people try to kill those in power)

Q:
How do you think of the riots in Hong Kong recently?
A:
You're welcome!
The only non-Chinese people that I can speak for would be other US citizens. As you can probably imagine, my country at this time is also very divided about political beliefs, so you will that some Americans support the various opinions of people in mainland China, and other Americans likewise support the various opinions to be found in Hong Kong.
My own persona political beliefs may or may not be relevant to the realities of the world. I wish for a world where all people recognize how alike they are, and strive to be united in respect for one another. Unfortunately, this is something of a fantasy in our current times of disagreements between the leaders of so many different countries.
My beliefs in the basic equivalence of all people lead me to very much appreciate HiNative, not only for the excellent service that they provide in helping others to learn new languages, but also because I believe this service also helps to bring people together and emphasizes how much alike we all are.
