Edwardian evening gown

Last week's photo of the day theme was evening wear. With prom season right around the corner and so many winter balls and galas taking place, it is the perfect time to look at the most glamorous of all vintage evening gowns and dresses. We can't forget the gentlemen, too, who always look so fine

There’s no one way to think about pink.

It's made of duchess silk satin. Bodice is lined with cotton and covered with cotton bobbinet. All bodice seams are boned. Skirt is faced with silk satin and it has two cotton bobbinnet over layers. White tulle layer is covered with c. 7000 silver sequins, individually attached. Black tulle has a Greek key appliqué that I cut out of silk velvet and hand stitched in place. Rows of silver and gunmetal sequins border the tulle layers. I also added paper flowers as a decoration. Straight seams…

This sheath dress with trumpet bell skirt and draping of tulle embroidered with plant and floral designs is inspired by Flora’s dress in Botticelli’s famous “Allegory of Spring”.
