I don't know if my Japanese grammar is correct but hopefully that makes sense! It means "until that case arrives on my desk" or "is on my desk"

"Cross" can be a verb, which is to travel a certain distance; example: This chicken will cross the road.

"Cross" can also be a noun to describe the intersection of two lines (more familiar use with the Christian religion of the crucifix); example: The church has a large cross on top of the building.

You can't "go across" the bank. The "bank" is not something you can "go across" because it is a building.

Cross that crosswalk sounds unnatural -> "use" that crosswalk. Cross is usually said with a road/path.

The second sentence, past tense progressive, has the feeling of you watched for a stretch of time. This stretch of time could be a few seconds or longer, but the first sentence sounds like you only glanced at her crossing the street.

"...but you shouldn't nail him to the cross for that." is natural if you're tired of saying "crucify" : )
