If you’re ever in need of showing someone Sofia Coppola, well, this is her at her absolute best - which is not surprising considering this might be her most personally-charged movie to-date. Following her 2003 divorce, Coppola tells a story of two miserable people finding each other in a distant dream (Tokyo). Just as dream-like is Lance Acord’s cinematography, which may set you in trance. Best way to describe it ? Being laid in your crib while being told a melancholic bed-time story. Just beautiful and soft.
